Names that combine well with Octavio

My grandfather’s name was Octavio, and we want to pay tribute to him by potentially naming our future son something in combination with Octavio. I would be interested to see how people would combine Octavio as a first but more likely as a middle name. If we use it as a first name the child would probably go by the nn Tavi.

A little background, I’m half Hispanic, and like names that can translate easily to Spanish, but this isn’t a requirement. My partner is very European looking and our last names sound very Anglo. We also love nature and the ocean so that is why there are some nautical/sea/blue color and nature names. We also lived in Oakland for a period of time. And I love David Bowie.

We are open to following the Hebrew tradition of honoring the person by using a name with the same initial, i.e. maybe we don’t use Octavio at all, but we use Oliver or Oakland in the name to pay tribute to Octavio. So please feel free to think of combinations that work without Octavio but with another O name as well.

Lastly, we seem to be drawn to classic names that can be modern as well. The yupster name list had a lot of names that we like on it, although I would hate to think of us as Yupsters!

Bowie- blonde
Cassian - st. Cassian, hollow
Caspian- Caspian Sea
Cruz (mn)- cross
Everett- brave as a wild boar
Grayson- son of Grey
Henry (mn)- estate ruler
Indigo - color blue
Jasper - bringer of treasure
Oakland (mn) - land of oaks
Oliver/Olivero- olive tree
Sebastian- person from the ancient city of Sebasta

Impressions on the names, or other names that could go well, would be welcome too. Thanks!

[name_m]Octavio[/name_m] is a fab name, I really like [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] myself, and [name_m]Septimus[/name_m] come to think of it…
As for your names, you’ve got a wonderful list there! My favourites are [name_m]Cassian[/name_m]/[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. Although I admit that [name_m]Octavio[/name_m] [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] is pretty cool!

Good luck

[name_m]Octavio[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is so dapper. While I’m biased because of my love for [name_m]Henry[/name_m], I also think that a classic like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] weighs up a more unusual name as [name_m]Octavio[/name_m] up very well. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Octavio[/name_m] sounds smashing as well.

I also like:
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Octavio[/name_m]
[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_m]Octavio[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Octavio[/name_m]
[name_m]Octavio[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Octavio[/name_m]

Thank you everyone for your replies! You’re all so creative and super helpful!

I’m leaning toward [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Octavio[/name_m] or [name_m]Octavio[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. My partner doesn’t like [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] or [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], as it turns out…still, both are dashing names!

I see that [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is very trendy right now, so I hope it doesn’t get too popular.

Thanks to all!!

My first thought when I saw your subject line was [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Octavio[/name_m]! [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is my favourite boys’ name and the combo sounds so dashing, romantic, and charming. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Octavio[/name_m] gives me the same sort of vibe too; too bad your partner isn’t fond of it! I don’t think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is that popular in my area- not that I know a lot of kids, but the only one I’ve ever met would be in university now.
