I enjoy having a BUNCH of great names to choose from so that I have options when my babies are born and it comes time to officially name them. However, I am a bit picky and have crossed out a lot of names (or saved them for later, just in case). My current list is very short as I have narrowed it down to just my favorites.
I am looking for unique/not-so-common names (preferably low or not in the top 1000, not just popular names with unique spellings). If anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate it! Here are my lists:
Girls:

[name_u]Lou[/name_u] ([name_f]Clementine[/name_f] as middle name)

[name_u]James[/name_u] (my husband’s name, potentially a middle name for [name_u]Holland[/name_u] or [name_f]Clover[/name_f] if not a first name)
Boys:
[name_m]Iver[/name_m] (we [name_m]WILL[/name_m] be naming one of our sons this)
I like all of your ideas for girls but my fave is [name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. [name_u]Holland[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is gorgeous and elegant. I like [name_f]Prue[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] too!
I like [name_m]Iver[/name_m]! Is it pronounced eye-vurr or ee-vair (like Bon [name_m]Iver[/name_m], the singer)? I think I prefer the former. [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] sounds romantic to me. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the pair [name_m]Iver[/name_m] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]? Or maybe that’s too much er/ar sound. [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is pretty.
I love the name [name_f]Freya[/name_f]! [name_u]Lou[/name_u] and [name_u]Holland[/name_u] are my other favorites (not a fan of [name_f]Prue[/name_f]). Maybe you might like the names [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and [name_u]Sage[/name_u].
I love the name [name_u]Winter[/name_u], but I typically think of it as a girl’s name. Boy names you might like include [name_u]Colby[/name_u], [name_m]Thayer[/name_m], [name_u]Camden[/name_u], [name_m]Archer[/name_m], and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m].
Since you’re using [name_m]Iver[/name_m] for a boy, [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is out. [name_m]Iver[/name_m] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] don’t go together. [name_m]Iver[/name_m] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] seem problematic together, too, and so does [name_f]Clover[/name_f] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u], for that matter.
I also think it would be strange to have your boys named extremely rare boy names, and then give your daughter and extremely common boy name. So I don’t recommend [name_u]James[/name_u].
[name_u]Lou[/name_u] strikes me as a masculine name next to gentle, arching boy names like [name_m]Iver[/name_m] an [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]! It sounds tough like a 1930s gangster!
I think [name_f]Ora[/name_f] would be beautiful! [name_f]Ora[/name_f] [name_u]Holland[/name_u], [name_f]Ora[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_f]Ora[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], or even [name_f]Ora[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] would all be great names!
[name_u]Holland[/name_u] is also nice and would work well, after that I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] (distant third, though).
All of the things you listed are actually reasons why we LIKE the names! None of these names are out for us (other than possibly the ones listed under “Other names I like/am considering”). I am currently only looking to add new names to my list for more options, but thank you for your opinions!
Officially moving [name_f]Freya[/name_f] from the “maybe” list to the “official” list!
If anyone had any middle name suggestions for the name [name_f]Freya[/name_f], or have [name_m]NEW[/name_m] names that I could add to my list, I’d love the suggestions!
P.S. I think a one syllable middle name sounds good with [name_f]Freya[/name_f] (such as Prim) or a longer name (such as [name_f]Clementine[/name_f])
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] Prim is sweet! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Plum[/name_f] or [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]? I’m going to suggest a ton of things and maybe something will stick out to you. I’ll do boys first. I pulled these names from all over: the ‘Exotic Traditionals’ section of a baby name book, Scottish boy names, names popular for boys in [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] and Norway, names that just came to mind as fitting with this style, nature names, and silent film actors. [name_m]Iver[/name_m] reminds me of [name_m]Ivor[/name_m] Novello and [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] sounds like a knight of the roundtable. So, soft enough for a young, fair Swedish boy but dreamy and strong enough for court.
For girls, I went with vintage or boyish nicknames but also tried to find things with the gravity of [name_u]Holland[/name_u] (that’s hard to match!). [name_m]Just[/name_m] kind of went all over, even to nature names and [name_m]French[/name_m] names and characters [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Cagney[/name_m] played in 30s gangster movies (inspired by that comment above).
I love the names you’ve picked out! [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Prue[/name_f] are so cute! [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is so lovely, short and sweet! I don’t think I could give you any more name because PPs have definitely gone above and beyond, but since you like [name_f]Prue[/name_f], perhaps an elaboration could be [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] nn [name_f]Prue[/name_f]? [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] is a classic, prim and proper girls name that I’ve loved for a long time, and the common nickname for it but definitely uncommon on its own is [name_f]Prue[/name_f]! I think it could add a lot of spunkiness and whimsy to a prim name. hope this what helpful.

So many boy names to consider! And the girls names are truly on point, with many we have considered ourselves! I will have to read over the lists a few times to really spot the names that stand out to me.
As for [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and [name_f]Plum[/name_f]; I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Plum[/name_f]! I had considered using the name [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] at one point, and nicknaming her [name_f]Plum[/name_f] because I love that nickname THAT much haha. The name [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is special to me, as well, however it conflicts with our last name Shortening it to “Prim” definitely makes it usable for us. I adore [name_f]Prue[/name_f], however, my husband is iffy on it. Hopefully I can get him on board with it, as I think it is such a cute name. I’m not a huge fan of using the full name “[name_f]Prudence[/name_f]”, unfortunately I usually prefer short, sweet and simple names (probably because my own name is only 3 letters long and I love it!). For sure, it was fun! I think your style is a challenge to pinpoint so I’m glad I got some right I am curious to know what you end up adding to your boys list if any.
