Hello, I love the name [name]Leni[/name] but it seems like a nickname to me. I cant think of any names that would produce this nn other than [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name], which i dont really like all that much. Thanks for your help!
I’ve got a Lenevieve in the family, though I don’t know if they made it up.
[name]Madeleine[/name], maybe? My niece [name]Lexi[/name] is called [name]Leni[/name] sometimes, but that’s just family silliness. [name]Lenore[/name] or [name]Lenora[/name] could work. [name]Ellen[/name]? That’s all I’ve got at the moment…
I once knew a Greek-Danish [name]Eleni[/name] who went by [name]Leni[/name].
I love [name]Eleni[/name], the Greek form of [name]Helen[/name]. Some more suggestions:
[name]Helen[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Arlenis[/name]
[name]Gwendolen[/name]
[name]Belen[/name]
[name]Dellen[/name]
[name]Galen[/name]
[name]Glenda[/name]
[name]Glenn[/name]
[name]Glenys[/name]
[name]Magdalen[/name]
[name]Valencia[/name]
[name]Valentina[/name]
I contributed to this thread not long ago… might have some interesting ideas:
I would prefer just simple [name]Lena[/name] (pronouned like [name]Lina[/name]), I think that it’s a beautiful name! If you ever read the sisterhood of the traveling pants series, one of the girls is named [name]Lena[/name] and sometimes goes by [name]Leni[/name]
shvibziks already suggested [name]Eleni[/name] and I completely agree! I think it’s such a beautiful name and exactly what I thought of upon seeing the title of the thread.
[name]Elena[/name] or [name]Helena[/name], for sure!
@rkrd wow! that is interesting and actually really pretty, i dont think i would use though
@thatkathryngirl I like [name]Lenore[/name]! it is like a younger sounding [name]Eleanor[/name]!
@shvibdiks [name]Eleni[/name] is so cute!! do you think its pn el-enn-ee or el-ay-nee?
@noora I really like [name]Valencia[/name] and [name]Valentina[/name]! I have a couple friends from the town of [name]Valencia[/name] so that may be a tad bit weird… but [name]Valentina[/name] is so awesome! It somehow is both elegant and cute!
@teacherma omg!!! that is so creepy! I had to have subconsciously seen that thread. But thanks for the link! super helpful!
@[name]Kiele[/name]- What about [name]Adelina[/name]? I worked at a daycare when I was younger and their were twins at the daycare named [name]Adelina[/name] and [name]Matteo[/name]. The girl [name]Adelina[/name] went by [name]Lenny[/name] and her brother went by [name]Teo[/name]. I thought it was super cute yet she had a beautiful name to fall back on. Plus I love how it means noble.
Agree with this completely.
[name]Elena[/name], [name]Elaina[/name], [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Eleanora[/name], [name]Magdalene[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name]
My daughter has a little 4 year old friend who’s name is [name]Elena[/name] ([name]ELL[/name]-EN-[name]AH[/name]), and her nn is [name]Leni[/name]. Very cute!
My suggestion is [name]Carolyn[/name] (pronounced [name]Caro[/name]-lin) and I also like [name]Eleni[/name].
I recently came up with the idea of using [name]Leni[/name] as a nickname for [name]Ellen[/name] - I love the full name but I’m not keen on [name]Ellie[/name], and it’s got the [name]Len[/name] sound right there at the end. I don’t know if it’s your cup of tea, it’s a bit more classic than some of the other suggestions but [name]Ellen[/name] nn [name]Leni[/name] is one I’m rather fond of myself.
Isn’t [name]Leni[/name] pronounced like [name]Laney[/name]? Why would a girl want to be called [name]Lenny[/name]?
[name]Heidi[/name] Klum’s daughter is named [name]Leni[/name] and that is exactly what I thought when I heard it, but I read later that it is lay-knee.
The [name]Eleni[/name] I knew pronounced it differently because it was in Danish (I believe she pronounced it something like eh-leh-nee), but I think that el-ay-nee sounds best in English
Why would a girl want to be called [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Frankie[/name], [name]Alex[/name] or [name]Dani[/name]? Because they feel a boyish nickname suits them better, simple as.
And I think [name]Leni[/name] can be said as [name]Lenny[/name] or [name]Laney[/name], depending on where it’s being nicknamed from.
