Names that "go with" Matilda

My second daughter is [name]Mathilda[/name] and her siblings are,
[name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Seth[/name] and [name]Ramona[/name].
She is always shortened to [name]Tilda[/name], tho her older sister calls her [name]Tilly[/name] [name]Ro[/name] (her 1st mn is [name]Rowan[/name])

We live in regional [name]Victoria[/name] about an hour from [name]Melbourne[/name]…these Matildas are all Victorian and range from ten down to baby. I don’t think popularity should put you off- for me it was more that it was people in our circle of friends who already had children with the name. It is definitely a vintage and classic name with a glorious history.

[name]Matilda[/name] was my paternal grandmother…she went by [name]Tilly[/name]…my son’s name is [name]Finn[/name]…think it would work for siblings… [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Finn[/name]

…or [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name]

Some suggestions I thought of have already been put forward, so perhaps [name]Matilda[/name] and:

[name]Coraline[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name]

[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Leopold[/name]
[name]Linus[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name]

[name]Matilda[/name]= quirky classic

I see I am not the only one who thinks it’s adorable with [name]Phoebe[/name]! I also thought [name]Ramona[/name], but that may be childrens’ lit overkill.

Everyone else suggested everything I would say, other than I categorize it as Yupster, maybe hipster

I even dug up the lists for you

Yupster

Hipster

[name]Matilda[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name], [name]Conrad[/name], [name]Elias[/name]

[name]Matilda[/name] and…

[name]Tabitha[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]

Clunky but cool

As a sibling for [name]Matilda[/name], I’d have…

[name]Oscar[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Desmond[/name], [name]Benedict[/name], [name]August[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name].

[name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Victoria[/name].

I have a two year old [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and due to have our second baby in two weeks. If it is a boy he will be [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Philip[/name], and if it is a girl she will be [name]Juno[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I have no idea if these names go with [name]Matilda[/name] but we love them! Other names on our list were [name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Romilly[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name]. [name]Seth[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Felix[/name].

[name]Matilda[/name] is definitely getting less clunky and more cool every day! Funny, [name]Lori[/name], that you resurrected our calling it an [name]Edna[/name] name nearly 20 years ago – it has definitely made greater inroads in returning to style favor than [name]Edna[/name] itself has.

Your using the opinion of [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] as FACT that it does not fall into those categories LOL.

Yeah, it’s a little fusty [name]IMO[/name] - but in a bad way, I personally like the name a lot.

It is so interesting to see how other people perceive a name. You have all given me a fresh perspective and new ideas. I was even reminded of some long lost favourites that I had forgotten about.

These are some names I thought before I posted would go with [name]Matilda[/name]:
[name]Penelope[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Archer[/name], [name]George[/name], [name]Geoffrey[/name]

Names that I have been enlightened too:
[name]Pheobe[/name] - “radiant shining one” - WOW
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Seth[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Simon[/name]

As for the style - I was hoping it was more classic/vintage less yupster/hipster but maybe i am a hipster wannabe at heart

I think [name]Matilda[/name] is vintage & cute.

[name]Tabitha[/name] & [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Leland[/name] & [name]August[/name]

[name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name]. [name]Simon[/name] and [name]Edmund[/name].

The only [name]Matilda[/name] I know personally also goes by [name]Tilly[/name] and has siblings [name]Tallulah[/name] “[name]Lula[/name]” and [name]Esme[/name].

The sibling names I think of have already been mentioned, I think but I’d say

[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Archie[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name]

[name]Matilda[/name] is #2 on my girls list! I think it’s beautiful.

[name]Matilda[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Ramona[/name].
[name]Matilda[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], and [name]Arthur[/name].

I have a [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Her siblings are [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_u]George[/name_u] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. We are considering [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] if the next is a girl.
