Names That Have Grown/Are Growing On You

What names did you start out not really caring about (or down right hating) that you’ve started to like more and more?

Some of mine right now are…

Dane
Bichette (unusable, but oh so pretty)
Prudence
Mercedes
Constance
Saoirse (mainly the spelling, which I originally found extremely confusing. The name itself was always gorgeous to me🙂)
Aoibhe
Niamh (I still pronounce it NEE-am sometimes, but not as much as I did when I first found it)

[name_f]Grace[/name_f] (overlooked, as it’s quite common in my area, but such a lovely name!)
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] (used to have a love hate relationship with this - now just love!)
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] / [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] (never liked the nickname [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] until recently, and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] has always been a name I kind of liked but could never decide on the spelling, but now I love Isabel)
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] / [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (found [name_f]Evie[/name_f] a little juvenile, but I find her quite endearing)
[name_f]Geneva[/name_f] “Evie” (definitely more of a GP, but a name I’ve grown to appreciate quite recently!)
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f] (a recent favorite that came out of nowhere, but I love her nonetheless!)

Been crushing on [name_u]Nairne[/name_u] for a girl for a loooong time so she’ll probably be added to the top 10 (DH does not approve, though, so it’s unlikely we’ll use it. Maybe for a pet someday?)
Girls:
[name_f]Idalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sorcha[/name_f] (I actually like the Sore-cha pronunciation but that’s not how it’s supposed to be, similar to @GeographyDragon’s [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] and [name_f]Niamh[/name_f]. Its actual pronunciation is more like “Sore-ka” which I don’t find nearly as appealing, unfortunately).
[name_u]Sora[/name_u]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (this one is waaaaaay more southern sounding than I normally go with my names but I’m really liking her).
[name_f]Merewen[/name_f] ( so whimsical and has the charm of Mae/Margaret without the popularity) my guilty pleasure cottagecore name.
[name_u]Faine[/name_u]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u]

oh so many…

Boys:
[name_m]Illarion[/name_m] (I will always mention him even though he’s been vetoed :smiling_face_with_tear:
Iserald (probably unusable)
[name_m]Elveryn[/name_m]
[name_m]Osier[/name_m]
[name_m]Romaric[/name_m]
[name_m]Roland[/name_m]
[name_f]Shasta[/name_f]
[name_u]Rigel[/name_u]
[name_m]Castiel[/name_m]
[name_u]Carlisle[/name_u]

Most of these DH has either vetoed or is very “ehhh…” about when I mention them so at least I get to share with y’all.

Right now for girls, I’m starting to really dig [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Martina[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], and [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u]. And for boys, strangely enough [name_m]Frank[/name_m] has caught my eye lol

[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] (I used to really dislike this name, and then all of a sudden, she just clicked! Now I think [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] is a sweet, springy, adorable name, and I love the meaning, the playful elegance, and the ancient Greek connection.)
[name_f]Perdita[/name_f] (Since this basically means “little lost one” in Spanish, I’ve always ignored it, but recently I’ve been loving her drama and spunky sound!)
[name_u]Juno[/name_u] (This name just never stood out to me, but it’s really bold and quirky, and I love the connection to the movie. I feel like soon, she might make it on my list!)
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] (Again, this was a name that I never payed attention to and was never on my radar. Then, a couple months ago I got the biggest crush on her. I think she’s so soft, golden, romantic, and graceful!)

i used to be ambivalent about beatrice. i had her on my long list and i remember looking at it one day and thinking “why is beatrice even on my list? i don’t even like it.” and now she’s my no. 2 girl name! she’s really grown on me, and i’d love to use it for a daughter one day :bouquet:
the same has happened with jago. i used to think it was quite an unsightly name, and now i absolutely love him, and he’s in my top 5 boy names!

[name_f]Joy[/name_f]. How could I not have noticed such a positive name? They say that having a positive name can have a positive impact on the beholder, so [name_f]Joy[/name_f] would surely be a true bundle of joy
