What are names that have grown on you? Whether it’s going from a dislike to a like, from an unsure to a love, or some other gradual process, I’d love to know names that you like more now than you used to.
Mine: [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_u]Amos[/name_u], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_u]Callum[/name_u]… the list goes on.
So many, I can’t even remember all of them. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is the only one that comes to mind. I remember I used to hate that name! But then I was trained in the [name_u]Berry[/name_u] ways and now know better
I had [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] as singles somewhere quite far down my list. And as time went on I really started to warm to them, especially as the combo [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f].
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] for a girl has grown on me significantly, as has [name_u]Kit[/name_u] for a boy.
I’m finding that being on the Nameberry forum has had the added benefit of exposing me to names that I wouldn’t ordinarily have considered. The more I see these names, the more they sound normal and nice
sooooo many names but all I can think of are [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
Sawyer! When I first heard it I couldn’t help but hear “soya” and I really didn’t like that. Why would you name your child soya? Then I read on a forum that someone had called their son [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and nicknamed him [name_u]Bean[/name_u] (like soya bean!) & I thought that was adorable.
Once I could get past the homophone, I started to really appreciate the good qualities of [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], it’s handsomeness, the -er ending… Now I love it and it’s made it all the way onto my boys shortlist!
Imogen, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]… These are the main ones I can think of. I’m particularly in love with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] after feeling indifferent to it previously. I don’t know how I didn’t love it! I’ve loved these for quite awhile now but [name_u]Billie[/name_u] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] are two I didn’t always love.
I can’t really think of any boys’s names strangely enough… I guess I don’t often add new boys’ names to my list.
Gideon, [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Roger[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], and [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] are all names I love now that I would never have even considered a year ago! The same is true for [name_f]Amabel[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], and [name_f]Sabine[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] are currently in the process of growing on me…
I’ve been leaning more and more towards old fashioned names. Examples:
I used to dislike or be indifferent to these names, but now I really like them (examples):

[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] is the big one for me. I remember thinking ‘how you could ever give that kind of clunky name to a tiny baby, everything about it is ugly’. Now I absolutely love it!!
It makes me second guess myself when I think about names such as [name_f]Bertha[/name_f], [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f], [name_f]Edna[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] and [name_f]Doris[/name_f] - names I currently still think as too clunky for a revival but will probably be in my top 10 in just a few years
