Have you ever had a name or word that you’ve heard regularly suddenly start to look/sound completely alien? I was just reading something and came across [name_m]Matthew[/name_m].
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m].
I don’t know if I’ve just never really looked at it properly, but it seems wrong! I’ve heard it a million times, I have a cousin with the name, but it just looks so strange to me right now!
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. [name_m]Matthew[/name_m].
Maybe it’s the TTH? I don’t know. It’ll probably look fine in an hour, but I actually had to go and check that that’s how it is typically spelled, because it looked so wrong to me!
That happens to me constantly!! The one it used to occur to a lot was [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], but lately [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] has been another. I think for me it’s that silent H.
I did this about 3 months ago with the name [name_m]Scott[/name_m]. I was just driving to work, thinking about my optometrist, and was like “Gosh, [name_m]Scott[/name_m]… what a weird name. Skot. Skawt. Scotttttttt.”
[name_f]Glad[/name_f] I’m not the only one. I’ve done it with words before (pretty frequently actually), but never a name! Haha and that was totally me this morning with [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. Maaahthhhhyou. [name_m]MATTHew[/name_m]. MatthYOU.
[name_f]My[/name_f] own name or brother’s is normally the name I find weird when see them written. also… [name_f]My[/name_f] mum. Rikke… it just looks wrong.
@raevynstar, I’m okay with Ferelith, but when I kept saying, it started to sound like Feral [name_m]Heath[/name_m], which started to sound like a place (there are lots of …Heaths where I live). Also names that have lots of Ls and is next to each other always look weird to me, like [name_f]Lillith[/name_f], Ailith, [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] etc. There might be more to add later.
haha, names, words, whatever. I’ll look at it and be like, “Nooo. That can’t be right! Did I spell that right? I couldn’t have!” and then I will spell it different, but that doesn’t look right, either, and I’ll go back to the original spelling. lol. I do love [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], though. He’s really handsome and classic. I’d love to meet a little [name_m]Matthew[/name_m].
