What are the names that everyone seems to have named their kids, from toddlers to teens, and you’re sick to death of them, but are way lower on the popularity charts than you thought?
Boys: For me it’s [name]Brandon[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name]. I know sooooo many of each, it seems to me than almost everyone I know named their son one of those two! But on the popularity stats, [name]Brandon[/name] is #47 (I thought at least top 20 if not top 10) and [name]Nicholas[/name] is #42 (Ditto)
Girls: [name]Maya[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name]. I know [name]Sarah[/name] is kind of a classic name but it seems to have had a sort of boom lately. But there are so many Mayas at my school, they all seem to be 12 and under, that I was so surprised to see that [name]Maya[/name] is only ranked at #64, less popular than [name]Audrey[/name], which I know is popular but I have never met anyone with that name
P.s. and the opposite-what are some supposedly popular names that you have hardly ever seen on an actual person? For me, [name]Neveah[/name] and [name]Harper[/name]
Yeah! I totally agree. I know ,like, 10-15 [name]Sydney[/name]'s and when I looked it up it’s only number 65! My jaw dropped. Then I know one [name]Isabella[/name], 2 [name]Chloe[/name]'s and one [name]Sophia[/name]!
In our area it seems like every other girl is named [name]Maddie[/name] nn for [name]Madilyn[/name], [name]Madison[/name], or [name]Madaline[/name]. I have 3 friends that have just had baby girls named [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Ava[/name], and [name]Isabella[/name] which seem newer in our area but are on the top 10 right now. As far as boys every other child in grades K through 5 are named [name]Aiden[/name]. [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Michael[/name], and [name]Noah[/name] are in the older high school set. Maybe our area is a little before our time with boys and behind the times with girls??:o
As for young girls, everyone is [name]Ava[/name]. For older girls, everyone is [name]Maddie[/name] whether it be [name]Madison[/name], [name]Madilyn[/name], [name]Madeline[/name], or just [name]Maddie[/name]. Boys seem to fit with the trends.
More: [name]Leila[/name]/[name]Layla[/name]/[name]Lilah[/name] etc… seem so popular because of a the variations! [name]Stella[/name] & [name]Cecilia[/name] also feel much more popular than they actually are.
Less: [name]Evelyn[/name], I couldn’t believe how high it is on the ssa list because I’ve yet to meet one.
I agree about [name]Stella[/name].
Although [name]Lily[/name] is high, I would expect it to be top 5. For some reason I though [name]Ayla[/name] was top 100, but it’s in the 300s.
I like the P.S. part of your post. It is a good reminder that being on “the list” doesn’t mean there will be 5 others in the classroom with the same name. I can’t believe these are on the top 1000 (granted, just [name]Serenity[/name] is in the top 100, the rest are down pretty low):
[name]Serenity[/name]
[name]Aspen[/name]
[name]Liberty[/name]
[name]Armani[/name]
[name]Brisa[/name]
[name]Karis[/name]
I tried to look through the boys’ list, but all the -ayden names made my eyes hurt.
