Names that sound too similar

I have a question to ask: Have any of you berries bumped into a similar situation where some of your favorite names sounded too much alike to be used as sibling names? I came across this dilemma when I thought the name [name]Maxine[/name] would make a great middle name (I also adore it when it’s used a fn). But at the same time, I absolutely LOVE the name [name]Geraldine[/name] as a fn. And then it hit me - Me and my sister share names that rhyme, though I think it was completely unintentional on my mom’s part. My name is [name]Danielle[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and my sister’s name is [name]Kayla[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]. [name]Michelle[/name] and [name]Danielle[/name] have the same end-rhyme. So could [name]Geraldine[/name] have a sister that has a middle name that rhymed with her first name? [name]Maxine[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Adeline[/name], [name]Justine[/name], etc? I apologize in advance if the question is a bit confusing!

Thank you!

I don’t think siblings middle names rhyming with the first name of another child is too bad  There aren’t going to be many times when you say their full names aloud anyway.

Names I can’t use together:

[name]Ira[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Ira[/name] and [name]Arianna[/name] (any [name]Ari[/name] name)
[name]Rose[/name] and [name]Joe[/name] ([name]Nanna[/name] and Pop’s names)
[name]Rose[/name] and [name]Ned[/name] (the names of [name]Nanna[/name]'s parents)

I don’t think the -ine ending is enough to be a problem. It goes too far when siblings are named [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Christina[/name] or [name]Holly[/name] and [name]Molly[/name]. I think -ine and -elle are just feminizing endings. And if the matching endings are a fn for one and a mn for the other, it’s even less to worry about. If you go by [name]Danielle[/name] and your sister goes by [name]Kayla[/name], it’s unlikely many people outside the family will both know her middle name and make the connection to your name.

I’ve been wondering about this. Like is it too much to have children named [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]? What about [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name]? Sometimes it seems obvious - like, you can’t really use [name]Elodie[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name], but sometimes, it seems like it might be OK, especially if you have other children, too.

But for your original question, I wouldn’t worry about whether a mn rhymes with a fn. That’s hardly noticeable, for the most part.

I like [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Aurelia[/name]. Talking about being too close to use both.
So yeah I feel ya.

I think if you use both as middle names or one as a middle and one as a first it’s not that big of a deal.
