Names that you want to die out?

Are there any popular names/trends that you are hoping will decrease in popularity in the next 5 or so years because you really like/dislike it?

I’m really hoping [name]Mason[/name] dies out fast. It’s insanely popular right now though! Also hoping [name]Harper[/name], [name]Cora[/name], & [name]Violet[/name] won’t get too big in the next following years, but they probably will. And like most berries, the -ayden trend needs to stop. It’s so overused and it just sounds gross to me now. It’s going to be so annoying for future little [name]Jayden[/name] when he has to share a classroom with [name]Rayden[/name], [name]Kayden[/name], and [name]Zayden[/name].

I wish [name]Violet[/name] would drop out of the top 100! I’m afraid it’s just going to keep getting more and more popular though. :frowning:

[name]Imogen[/name], I hate it but it was rated #1 on NB for 2013

I hope [name]Isadora[/name]/[name]Isidora[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] [name]DON[/name]'T follow [name]Isabella[/name] up the charts anymore than they have already, because I love them and I don’t want them to become overused. The same goes for [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name].

I would love to see [name]Nevaeh[/name] fall into the oblivion, never to return.

Boys names on girls. Can’t stand that trend. Also “unisex” names for girls because 9 times out of 10, they’re actually boys names.

I would love it if [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Michael[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] dropped in popularity because I really like those names.

As far as names I dislike I also hope [name]Neveah[/name] gets forgotten.

[name]Amen[/name] to that!

I’d prefer it if the trend of creative spellings of names ended. It annoys me when people expect you to know which of [name]Caitlin[/name]'s 20 spelling variations they use without telling you, or how to pronounce a jumble of letters that looks like Halei - and whether you say [name]Hayley[/name] or [name]Hallie[/name], you’re bound to get it wrong.

I think [name]Toby[/name] is the ugliest name ever. It puts me in mind of many unpleasant things related to toes.

I would like [name]Nicholas[/name] to drop down (ahem preferably completely out of the top 1000, but I know that’s slightly unrealistic…) just a little bit, especially in [name]England[/name], but also in [name]America[/name]. Only because I like to have all my names with similar popularities, and let’s just say that [name]Dougal[/name] is not the most popular name anywhere.

I wish all the leftover nineties names would drop out of popularity, like [name]Taylor[/name], [name]Lauren[/name], [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Tyler[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Joshua[/name] etc… I’m just so sick of hearing them. That and all the leigh/lee/ley names for girls. I absolutely hate that some parents seem to think that every word/last name that ends in “lee” can be a girls name or that they can just tack a “lee” on a one syllable sound and suddenly its a name.

For my own benefit I wish [name]Oliver[/name] & [name]Leo[/name] would stop rising and that [name]Charlotte[/name] & [name]Violet[/name] would drop out of the top 100.

To the other [name]Imogen[/name] lover (sorry I’m on my phone and can’t quote easily with it): if you’re in the US, take heart! [name]Imogen[/name], while popular on NB, hasn’t broken into the top 1000 yet. Now i just hope it stays that way for several years…or forever

I think each name has its own beauty. I wouldn’t ever express the want of fading out any name. I’ve loved researching names ever since I was in grade school.

I agree with -ayden names, enough with the Jaydens!!!

I would definitely like to see the to youneek trend to phase out. I just hate the idea of a person going through life saying-it’s [name]Karyn[/name] with a y. It has a downmarket vibe to me…like the parents are illiterate or something. I think it’s so much worse than [name]Sophia[/name] P, [name]Sophia[/name] Z, etc

I also agree with the ayden names. I remember the first time I heard “[name]Cayden[/name].” I thought it sounded so babyish and trendy…ugh. For me, [name]Imogen[/name] is an old lady name…I love old lady names haha. I do dislike “[name]Bella[/name]” as it has blown up in the past five years. It seems that every other girl you meet under 20 is calling herself [name]Bella[/name], and those above 20 are naming their kids anything that allows the nickname of [name]Bella[/name].

The only specific tryndee name I really can’t stand is [name]Nevaeh[/name]. But, I do know an upper class [name]Christian[/name] family that used it for their daughter because of it’s relationship to heaven and their faith. I guess you really can’t fault the reasoning, but why [name]Nevaeh[/name] when you could have gone with so many other faith-based names, like [name]Eliora[/name]/[name]Eliana[/name], [name]Gabrielle[/name]/ella, [name]Elizabeth[/name] or even [name]Eden[/name]?

Also, kry8tive spellings. My name is [name]Reine[/name], and believe me, I’ve gotten over ten pronunciations for it. TEN! And spelling… I feel for all that Kalei, Zofiya, Liliyin, Jdyn and Jaycyb. At least I’ve finally managed to go by a different name, but it’s not easy.

I wish that [name]Zoe[/name] & [name]Luke[/name] would drop out of the top 20’s and go back to their respective spots in the 1000’s range. But that is only because I am horribly selfish and wish to use them for my own children : )

I would also like to add [name]Holden[/name], Catcher in the [name]Rye[/name] destroyed every possibility of me ever liking this name
