My husband loves the name [name_f]Katie[/name_f]/[name_f]Kady[/name_f]. I do not want to use that as a first name, because I grew up with so many girls with that name. I agreed to use [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] with [name_f]Katie[/name_f]/[name_f]Kady[/name_f] as a nickname, but - of course - hubby doesn’t like it because of his Aunt [name_f]Cathy[/name_f]. I can’t think of other names with an obvious tie to [name_f]Katie[/name_f]/[name_f]Katy[/name_f]. I also want to stick with “K” as the first initial, and avoid “[name_f]Cady[/name_f].”
[name_f]Katie[/name_f] / [name_f]Kady[/name_f]
[name_f]Kadence[/name_f]

[name_f]Katerina[/name_f]

Have you considered using Caddy instead of [name_f]Katie[/name_f]? It is less common and really cute.
[name_f]Leokadia[/name_f] (looks like a creative spelling, but [name_f]Leokadia[/name_f] is a traditional Polish name)
Caddy is Cadd-ee, not [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. At least, that’s how it would be in the US. Caddy is short for Cadillac. A caddy is also the assistant who carries the golf clubs at a golf course.
I have a cousin named Katie, just Katie not Kate or Katherine or anything. I’m not a fan of it but it works for her.
Yekaterina and Ekaterina are two others not already listed.
I know how it is pronounced. I know a girl with this name and it fits her beautifully. Anyways, a mat is something you wipe your feet on, but I don’t think of that every time I see a man with that name.
Well [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is the obvious, but [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] is also gorgeous! I also like [name_f]Cathleen[/name_f], but that would really throw your husband. I actually like [name_f]Katie[/name_f] on it’s own. I really like calling your child what it is named. The only other option I like is using [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and calling her [name_f]Katie[/name_f].
[name_f]Katerina[/name_f]
[name_f]Kadida[/name_f]
[name_f]Kalinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Kalliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Katell[/name_f]
[name_f]Kateri[/name_f]
[name_f]Kathlyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Katia[/name_f]
This is EXACTLY why I named my third daughter Katriel! First of all, when I met my husband back in college he told me if he ever had a daughter he wanted her name to be [name_f]Katie[/name_f], which I thought was sweet due to the fact that he had thought/cared about it. But then when we actually had children I didn’t like [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] for the very same reasons as you, even though it was my grandmother’s name, aunt’s name, etc…Plus, our last name is a one syllable boy name that starts and ends with K! So - [name_f]Katie[/name_f] sounded very much like [name_f]Katie[/name_f] Couric with it. Anyway - we had already had two daughters and I had picked out my favorites for them, and here we were on dd #3 and my husband STILL didn’t have his longed-for [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. It made me sad, but I didn’t know how to resolve the issue without just naming her [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], etc… which I didn’t love. Then I read the name Katriel in a baby name book - (I pronounced it [name_u]Kay[/name_u]-tree-ell). I thought it was gorgeous yet uncommon and best of all, it sounded nice with our last name AND her nn could be [name_f]Katie[/name_f]! Our Katriel in now ten and she LOVES her name. She likes that NO ONE [name_f]ELSE[/name_f] has her name (she is an identical twin, so this is a big deal to her!), and that it has a ‘tree’ in the middle of it - hee hee. Good luck finding something [name_f]Katie[/name_f]-ish that you love as well! (And yes, my husband does call her [name_f]Katie[/name_f] quite often, while I stick with Katriel or [name_f]Katri[/name_f]). I also like [name_f]Katya[/name_f]/[name_f]Katja[/name_f], which I think is pretty and could use [name_f]Katie[/name_f] as a nn as well!
I know of a [name_f]Caydence[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cady[/name_f], so I think [name_f]Kadence[/name_f] nn [name_f]Kady[/name_f] would be great! I also went to college with a [name_f]Kady[/name_f], not short for anything. I don’t prefer that route.
Good luck!

The initials KT or KD could work, too:

Klara Dulcie …
Note: using “C” names is fine to get to “K” nicknames: like Kate Middleton is Catherine. Kit/Kester/Christopher, Kate/Kitty/Catherine, Kiki/Christina are fairly common.
I knew a [name_f]Katinka[/name_f] nn [name_f]Kati[/name_f] and know an [name_f]Acadia[/name_f] sometimes called [name_f]Cady[/name_f].
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] on its own is very nice too.
