Names with associations a male would appreciate

My hubby & I can not agree on boys names!

He’s admitted to me he either likes or dislikes a name based on what ever association he has from it (ie he likes [name]Quentin[/name] because it makes him think of [name]Quentin[/name] [name]Tarantino[/name] his fave director, he likes [name]Hendrix[/name] because he’s a [name]Jimi[/name] [name]Hendrix[/name] fan etc etc etc). I however, choose names more on how they sound or make me feel…

He’s a 31 yr old adult male who loves all things to do with cars, motorcycles, motorsport of any kind, classic rock (think the 1970s), video games, movies with action & blood (his faves are Resevoir Dogs & Clockwork [name]Orange[/name]), but isn’t a big sports fan… what names can you think of that are good names that i might like, that still have an association that might appeal to him???

For reference, he loves our girls names because [name]Rosalie[/name] is after his grandmother [name]Rose[/name], and [name]Abby[/name] reminds him of [name]Abby[/name] off NCIS who he happily admits he’s got a bit of a crush on

Help?!

Cars I am helpless with…Does [name]Dodge[/name] or [name]Chevy[/name] work? Look up classic car names…actually [name]Lincoln[/name] is pretty awesome and it has the car connection. Detroit is a kind of cool middle and it goes with the car-history thing.

Classic [name]Rock[/name]- [name]Nash[/name], [name]Crosby[/name], [name]Dylan[/name], [name]Floyd[/name], ect. I don’t know what specific bands he likes, but check out their wiki pages for member’s surnames, album & song titles, record label’s ([name]Arista[/name] & Decca make pretty girl names!), and what city they formed in.

Movies- [name]Clarence[/name] & [name]Alabama[/name] from [name]True[/name] [name]Romance[/name] if he likes Tarentino! I would search thru character names. Tarentino is influenced by so many crazy old movies…maybe just fill your nexflix queue with a bunch of 1970s movies and check out those names. Beyond Tarentino I think the name [name]Quentin[/name] feels so stuffy & preppy- not at all the feeling that his movies give me.

Names my husband loves:
[name]Ulysses[/name]
[name]Cassius[/name]
[name]Maxim[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]

Maybe those are good ‘guy’ names??

Good ideas - thanks!

[name]How[/name] about:
[name]Clayton[/name] ([name]Cassius[/name] [name]Clay[/name])
[name]Altair[/name] (main character in Assassin’s [name]Creed[/name])
[name]Leonard[/name] ([name]Leonard[/name] Skynryd)
[name]Stanley[/name] ([name]Stanley[/name] Kubrick)
[name]Henry[/name] ([name]Henry[/name] [name]Ford[/name])
[name]Martin[/name] ([name]Aston[/name] [name]Martin[/name])
[name]Harley[/name] or [name]David[/name]/[name]Davis[/name] ([name]Harley[/name] [name]Davidson[/name])

well, to work for [name]BOTH[/name] of you, what is it that YOU’RE looking for in a boy’s name? you’re saying it’s more about how a name makes you feel. how would the right name make you feel?

based on what you’re saying about your man, i’m wondering whether he might like “rebel” names… names that sound a bit ragged, heroic maybe. the first name that came to mind for me was [name]Blaze[/name].

Some good suggestions guys, thanks!

In terms of my own preferences, some of my faves are [name]Archer[/name], [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Elijah[/name] & [name]Finn[/name]. I guess quite masculine, classic feeling but without being overly common.

Middle name will be [name]Jameson[/name] - we know that much!!!

Cars/Motorcycles - [name]Bentley[/name], [name]Ford[/name], [name]Axel[/name], Deisel, [name]Dodge[/name], [name]Colt[/name], [name]Forester[/name], [name]Jetta[/name], [name]Lincoln[/name]

If he likes car or bike racing, maybe look up a list of the current or famous riders. My husband’s into Formula 1 and I looked up a list of names from that to see what sort of names he would suggest, most of his ideas come from people he knows or off the television.

It just got real folks! Had my anatomy scan this morning and bub is definitely a boy…

Let the months of arguing begin!

I really like [name]Quentin[/name]. I like all of the names you are considering though, except for [name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]. But since he likes [name]Quentin[/name] and you like [name]Quentin[/name], that seems like a good option, right?

I tolerate [name]Quentin[/name] - its definitely not a name I love, but could probably live with. [name]Charlie[/name] is nice, and [name]Harry[/name] is my Hubby’s grandfather’s name which is why it’s on there, but neither name are among my faves.
