What names do you love because of what they mean?
I love great meanings! For me, a name having a great meaning can take it from “I like this” to soaring to the top of my lists. I think meanings are important; when my kid asks why I called them something, I would love it to be because there was a beautiful meaning or story to their name.

I’m not really much of a meaning person but a lover of spelling/pronunciation of a name, so it was no wonder most of my favourites didn’t have beautiful meanings (ex: [name_f]Alba[/name_f] means “white”). But some names I do like that have beautiful meanings are listed:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]- “noble”
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]- “pure”
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]- “radiant, shining one”
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]- “she who brings happiness”
[name_f]Maria[/name_f]- “wished for child”
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]- “goddess of wisdom”
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]- “shining light”
[name_f]Roisin[/name_f]- “little rose” {the meaning would honour my grandma who loved roses, its a shame i dont love the spelling }
[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]- “liberty”
[name_f]Niamh[/name_f]- “bright”
[name_u]August[/name_u]- “great, magnificent”
[name_u]Asa[/name_u]- “healer”
[name_m]Eoin[/name_m]- “God is gracious”
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]- “gift of God”
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]- “bear” (only because I’d nickname him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u])
