Names with musical references

Berries, I need your help! Can you think of any names that have to do with music? My mother is a professional musician and I’m finding it very hard to honor her by using her name or a variation of it, so I’m looking for other ways to honor her. The only names I can think of are [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] but they’re a little too out-there for my taste. [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!

[name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f]?

I also love [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], and [name_f]Viola[/name_f]. One of my favourite names is [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], and I also love/like,
Eumelia (meaning [name_f]Melody[/name_f], in Ancient Greek), [name_f]Melody[/name_f]/[name_f]Melodie[/name_f]/Mélodie, and [name_f]Arietta[/name_f]. For boys I like [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] and [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m], but they might be too unusual. But maybe [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] (for [name_m]Mozart[/name_m]'s father), [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] (or a variation), [name_m]Johann[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. That’s all I can think of at the moment.

[name_f]Allegra[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_u]Harmony[/name_u], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], Song, [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Cadence[/name_f]

[name_f]Allegra[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f] and [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] are all beautiful. Song makes a nice middle name

For a girl, I like

AOIDE: Greek name meaning “to sing.” In mythology, this is the name of the one of the three original Muses before their number was increased to nine. It is also the name of a moon of [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m]

Maybe for a middle name: LIRON: Hebrew name meaning “my song.”

I actually know a little girl named [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] and she’s the sweetest thing! It has also really normalized the name for me.

I agree with a PP though - I think Song would make a beautiful middle name. Since it’s the middle name and not the first, I think you’re able to take a lot more risks with it and it’s okay if it’s a little more “out there”. Majority of people don’t bring their middle names up on a daily basis!

[name_u]Lyric[/name_u], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], and [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] are the first ones that come to mind. My best friend is named [name_f]Melody[/name_f] and she gets nothing but compliments on her name from everyone she meets  [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] I think works well for a boy or girl and [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is one I think is gorgeous and our #1 pick. [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] is NMS but I know a lot of people enjoy it.

There’s also [name_u]Tempo[/name_u], Coda, [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m], [name_u]Adagio[/name_u], [name_f]Allegro[/name_f], [name_u]Alto[/name_u], Bene, [name_u]Brio[/name_u], Clef, [name_m]Forte[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], Freddo, Glissando,[name_m]Harp[/name_m], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], Legato, Note, Omaggio, Opus, [name_m]Quintus[/name_m], [name_u]Reed[/name_u], Solo, Song, [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f], Sonore, [name_u]Tempo[/name_u], Tocsin, Vespers, [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m], Zydeco, [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], [name_f]Arietta[/name_f], Cabaletta, [name_f]Cappella[/name_f], [name_f]Carol[/name_f], [name_f]Celesta[/name_f], [name_f]Dot[/name_f], [name_u]Harmony[/name_u], Hymn, Key, [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Marcia[/name_f], Medley, Melisma, [name_f]Nera[/name_f], Nocturne, Ottava, [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f], [name_f]Sonatina[/name_f], Stanza, Vespers, [name_f]Viola[/name_f]

Some are a little more out there while others have more subtle references. So it sort of depends on what direction you want to go. There’s composers, favorite musicians, musical terms, songs, and a ton of other options  Good luck!

St. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is a saint of music. I think St. [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] might be as well, but I’m not 100% positive. ([name_m]Even[/name_m] if he’s not, there’s still Gregorian chants to give you a musical reference.)

Some other suggestions that haven’t been listed yet: [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], Euterpe (muse of music), Chord, [name_u]Reed[/name_u], [name_u]Fifer[/name_u], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]March[/name_u], Operetta, [name_f]Musetta[/name_f], [name_f]Symphony[/name_f]/Symphonia, Piccolo, [name_u]Banjo[/name_u]

My name is [name_f]Melodie[/name_f]

[name_f]Cadence[/name_f] and [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] are two not so out-there names I don’t see listed. [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u] also came to mind.

You might also use the name from one of your mother’s favorite songs to perform, or an inspirational musician to her.

I think songbird names, such as [name_u]Wren[/name_u], can work to honor a musical person.

Most of the names I had thought of have already been listed, but I have [name_f]Philomela[/name_f] on my gp list. It means “lover of songs”

You could take names of singers, perhaps, such as [name_f]Marianna[/name_f] ([name_f]Marianna[/name_f] & The Diamonds), or their children, such as [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] ([name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u], daughter of [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f] & [name_u]JAY[/name_u]-Z). There’s also [name_u]Harmony[/name_u], [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f], [name_f]Symphony[/name_f], [name_u]Lyric[/name_u], [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]/o, [name_u]Bell[/name_u], [name_u]Calypso[/name_u], [name_f]Serenade[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f] & [name_f]Marimba[/name_f].
