This is just a random question that I’ve been thinking about my answer to recently; what is a name that you can’t see yourself using because you associate it with something negative? [name_u]Or[/name_u] just something else in general, not necessarily negative. You can even include a positive one if you’d like!
*Clarification first - this isn’t meant to bring down anyone’s name or name ideas! [name_m]Just[/name_m] lighthearted, I’m mostly curious about what name-related stories people have.
I’ll start. I like the name [name_f]Undine[/name_f], and I love its meaning, but it was what the bathroom behind the dining hall at summer camp was called when I was a kid, and I can’t think of it as anything else. One positive camp-related name association is [name_u]Alder[/name_u]! I had a counselor named [name_u]Alder[/name_u] (his camp name) when I was around 14 years old and he was my favorite, his name has always stuck with me. I’d definitely use it as a middle name for a boy.
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f]! It’s perfectly my style but it is the nickname of a building at my college (not a particularly desirable one and a name said often) so the name will always have that association for me.
Any names that have been used in my family will always draw my mind to them.
Same with the first and last names of politicians (particularly modern ones).
Well I have a ton of names in my UC from my favorite movies and shows! Then there are always names that I associate with actors or singers like when every I see the name [name_u]Rooney[/name_u] I always think of [name_u]Rooney[/name_u] [name_f]Mara[/name_f].

I would maybe still consider using it, but not with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] which I also love, as together they would be far too heavily associated.

My favorite boy name, Oskar, is heavily associated with [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] Schindler for me. Schindler’s List is my absolute favorite movie, so the association is very strong and very positive for me, thankfully.
Similar to [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f], I love the name Dahlia - definitely one of my top girl names. It used to be my top but has since been replaced by some other names. [name_f]My[/name_f] association with the name is actually a positive one though - I hardly think of the [name_m]Black[/name_m] [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] murder, but instead, I think of the flower. In my hometown, there is a massive dahlia garden with thousands upon thousands of dahlias in bloom during [name_f]Spring[/name_f] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f], so the name reminds me of home.
Juno, one of my new loves, I associate with one of the admins here on Nameberry! It’s her daughter’s name.
