[name_u]Julie[/name_u] - all the one I’ve met so far have been horrible.
[name_f]Marianne[/name_f], [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], and [name_u]Carter[/name_u] have negative associations. [name_u]Tyler[/name_u], just because I’ve met so many so-so men (and one loser ex) with this name. Also, a name I would otherwise love to use is [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. I have a wonderful acquaintance with this name, however I have a rather unfavorable family member with this name as well.
I can’t handle any of the [name_m]Christ[/name_m]-names. [name_m]Christian[/name_m], [name_f]Christine[/name_f], [name_f]Christen[/name_f], [name_u]Christy[/name_u]… They’ve all been ruined for me by people I’ve met. I can handle [name_u]Chris[/name_u] though.
Likewise, even though it’s unfair, I can’t help but assume that anyone with the name [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] is just destined to not like me, nor I her.
However, I do have a name that has been effectively rehabilitated! [name_f]My[/name_f] now-husband’s ex-GF was named [name_f]Leah[/name_f]. Through his stories, and after meeting her myself, I couldn’t even hear the name [name_f]Leah[/name_f] without getting into a fit. It was so bad that I didn’t even read a book I was super excited about once the protagonist was introduced as [name_f]Leah[/name_f]. Then, when I studied abroad in college, I got assigned a sweet, lovely, adorable roommate… named [name_f]Leah[/name_f]. I battled my own inner hatred for the name, and I tried not to let it influence me when I met her. She turned out to be wonderful. Now, I don’t mind the name [name_f]Leah[/name_f]. I actually find it pretty. (Not that we would ever name our child this, of course. :p)
The name [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] has been totally ruined for me. It has a nice meaning, and I like the way it sounds, but bad experiences with a bratty little girl and a bully from my school days keep me away from it. I can’t stand [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], [name_u]Montana[/name_u], [name_u]Lindsey[/name_u], or [name_u]Devon[/name_u] for similar reasons.
Names that have been ruined for me are:
Girls: [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
Boys: [name_u]Andy[/name_u], [name_u]Curtis[/name_u].
[name_f]Maia[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] & [name_m]Alec[/name_m]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Marissa[/name_f], [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], and [name_m]Adam[/name_m]
Girls: [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] (unfortunately, I absolute loved the name before and love the possible subtle [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] reference)
Boys: [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] and [name_m]Troy[/name_m]
Girl names I hate because people ruined them for me - [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f], [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], [name_f]Alexa[/name_f](loved this named until I realized it’s a combo of two people I utterly despise…), [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], [name_f]Celina[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Patricia[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], and including my own name cause people would tease me a lot for it… if I only didn’t grow up in the 90’s I wouldn’t have had that issue:/…
[name_m]Guy[/name_m] names I hate because people ruined them for me - [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], Randon, [name_m]Lucius[/name_m], [name_u]Colby[/name_u], [name_m]Kevin[/name_m], [name_m]Troy[/name_m], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], [name_u]Chris[/name_u], [name_u]Nick[/name_u]/[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] ( it just sounds so feminine to me no matter how hard I try to like it because the kid I knew had an extremely squeaky pitched voice ): ) , and [name_u]Michael[/name_u]… Those are just a few names I dislike because they were ruined! At least I don’t like any of those names (besides [name_f]Alexa[/name_f]), lol.
[name_f]Klaudia[/name_f] — I’ve met several and all were… difficult.
[name_m]Maciej[/name_m] — the same.
[name_m]Marek[/name_m] — because of my father.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]. [name_f]Emily[/name_f] was totally ruined for me because of my dearly loved best friend from secondary school who turned put to be my biggest bully. it’s a shame because I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and I have another 3 really dear friends called [name_f]Emily[/name_f] - I also love the name [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] but fear the nickname [name_f]Emily[/name_f] over [name_f]Emmi[/name_f].
The same sort of thing with [name_f]Amber[/name_f], although I’ve never liked this name anyway. [name_f]Amy[/name_f]/[name_f]Aimee[/name_f] & [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]/[name_f]Caitlan[/name_f] are totally ruined aswell - however I don’t mind the sound of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], just those two particular spellings.
Ok, so here we go: [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]/ [name_f]Karolina[/name_f]; [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] / [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]; [name_f]Nina[/name_f] (I still like the name, just would never use it because of the connection); [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (exes); [name_f]Catalina[/name_f].
The main one for me is [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. She was a bully in high school which is so sad for me because I used to love that name!
I work in retail so I have a really hard time finding names that don’t remind me of someon annoying. [name_f]My[/name_f] one name that I could never use is [name_f]Michelle[/name_f].
[name_f]Alexa[/name_f]. [name_f]Every[/name_f] [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] I have ever known has either been really mean or really annoying. And kind of [name_f]Emily[/name_f] as well. I still sort of like it, but I could never use it because literally every [name_f]Emily[/name_f] I’ve ever met except one has had major personality flaws. And I’ve met a ton of Emilys.
[name_f]Every[/name_f] [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] I’ve ever known was awful, [name_u]Kendall[/name_u], [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] as well.
2 of you can’t stand my name! I won’t take it personally though.
I feel the opposite about “[name_f]Jamesina[/name_f]”!! I fall more in love with it each time I interact with someone named [name_f]Jamesina[/name_f]. I am so far the only person I know with the name “[name_f]Jamesina[/name_f]”, however, I have a high self-esteem and often enjoy my own company, leading me to fall madly in love with “[name_f]Jamesina[/name_f]”. I plan on naming my future daughter “[name_f]Jamesina[/name_f] [name_m]Jr[/name_m].”, and a son would be the masculine version, “Jamesine”!
Yaho!! Wow!! xoxoxo,
[name_f]Jamesina[/name_f] Sylvestra Garlene:rolleyes:
Girls: [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_u]Nikki[/name_u], [name_f]Teesha[/name_f] and anything that rhymes with it, [name_f]Megan[/name_f], [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], [name_u]Halle[/name_u], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_u]Abby[/name_u], [name_f]Monique[/name_f], Bradie
Boys: [name_m]Nate[/name_m], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_m]Bryson[/name_m], [name_m]Josh[/name_m], [name_m]Johnny[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_u]Cody[/name_u], [name_m]Bradin[/name_m], [name_m]Scott[/name_m], [name_u]Parker[/name_u]
Ha. High school was a bad time for me.
I was bullied by two girls named [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] and [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] so that ruined those two names for me, even though I don’t like the name [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]. I like [name_f]MaKayla[/name_f] now, though spelled different. I know two guys named [name_u]Gary[/name_u]. One I love, the other, not so much. So, when I hear the name [name_u]Gary[/name_u], if I think about the one I don’t like, I don’t like the name. But if I hear the name [name_u]Gary[/name_u] and I think about the one I like, I like the name. I used to not like the name [name_m]Jeff[/name_m] because of a bad experience with someone with that name, until my cousin, [name_m]Jeff[/name_m], changed my viewpoint forever. [name_f]My[/name_f] son is even named [name_m]Jefferson[/name_m] now, after the [name_m]Jeff[/name_m] I like!
The saying is true, too! “You never know how many people you don’t like, until you have to name a kid!”
