What names cant you use because of your last name or your SOs last name?
I cant use…
[name_m]Austin[/name_m]
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
Any -son names ([name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u])
Any -man names ([name_m]Roman[/name_m], [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], [name_m]German[/name_m])
[name_m]Ross[/name_m]
Most names that end with “N” ([name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Fallon[/name_u], [name_u]Van[/name_u])
The glory of Italian last names are that they flow well with most anything.
That being said, I’m trying to stay away from -y -ie -ee endings so they don’t clash too much. And god forbid I should ever name our child a name that starts with “[name_u]Val[/name_u]”.
Most word names, because SO’s last name sounds like (but is spelled slightly differently than) a word. It ends in an S sound so I am careful about names ending in S but it really doesn’t end up bothering me.
My last name should flow badly with my first name according to nameberry rules since my last name ends in -on and my first name ends in -in, but I get nothing but compliments and have always loved my names. And two of my older half-siblings names end in -yn and -an, and it’s never bothered anyone. Plus I have a 2-2-2 syllable count so it really shouldn’t work. So I think it’s not as important as we make it out to be sometimes.
Any long names that start with “E”. My fiance’s last name starts with E, ends with A, and is 4 syllables. So, I can’t use [name_f]Esperanza[/name_f], [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f], etc.
Any one syllable first names! Our last name is one syllable and it just makes almost all one syllable first names sound really choppy. I tend to like short and punky names so that ruled out a lot of cute names for my daughter. Oh well…we still found a good one!
We can’t really use anything starting with a Br- (our last name is [name_f]Brenn[/name_f]@n). So [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_f]Brenna[/name_f], etc are out.
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. Which was my ultimate (well only) boy name pick. DH and kids Last name macisa@c so that would obviously be way weird
Also I think anything that is overtly non Anglo [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] doesnt work. Like [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] macisa@c would be strange. Or [name_m]Mateo[/name_m]. Both of which I love.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] also noticed the trendy [name_u]McKinley[/name_u] etc sorts are out too. Not going to cry over that, that’s for sure lol
Our last name is one syllable, R0y.
So I don’t want to use one syllable names or anything that starts with an R
I would love to use :
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], and [name_m]Ryder[/name_m]
