Names you hope someone will use

I just found Esli on another naming site. I think it is adorable. It is pronounced es-lee and the meaning is “reserved of God.” Biblical-[name_u]Baby[/name_u]-Names.com lists it as a unisex name, but I like it for a girl. I think it has the flavor of [name_u]Ainslie[/name_u] and Ensley.

What do you think of Esli? Have you known any? What are some names that you have seen or heard that you wish someone would use?

Esli -> [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].

I wouldn’t use them myself, but I’d love to see [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], etc used more. I’d prefer knowing dozens of little Georgias or Susannahs to the dozens of little "random-syllable+[name_u]Lee[/name_u]/[name_u]Lynn[/name_u]"s i know ([name_m]Brinlee[/name_m], Brynlyn, Macklee, Paxlyn, etc)

I recently started loving the name [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], but the resp once it got from my boyfriend was “yuck”. So I hope someone else will give a baby this gorgeous name so I can fawn over it haha.

Hmm… names that I adore but I don’t think I’ll ever use: [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Ffion[/name_f], [name_f]Isaura[/name_f], [name_f]Isaline[/name_f], [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Isis[/name_f], [name_f]Demetria[/name_f], [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f], [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Angharad[/name_f], [name_f]Azure[/name_f]/[name_f]Azura[/name_f], [name_f]Leilani[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Eliora[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f], [name_f]Daenerys[/name_f], Eirlys, [name_f]Arwen[/name_f], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f], [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Evadne[/name_f], [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f], [name_f]Io[/name_f], [name_u]Calypso[/name_u], [name_f]Florence[/name_f]/[name_f]Fiorenza[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], Bellona, [name_f]Donia[/name_f], Corazon, [name_f]Danica[/name_f], [name_f]Mattea[/name_f], [name_f]Liesl[/name_f], [name_m]Alec[/name_m], [name_m]Alexei[/name_m], Theoden, [name_m]Juan[/name_m], [name_m]Julio[/name_m], [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], [name_m]Romeo[/name_m], [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], [name_u]Noel[/name_u], [name_m]Eli[/name_m].

I’ve never met an Esli, but I think that some people might hear [name_f]Esme[/name_f] instead. I would like to see the name [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] used more often in the US so it could lose its syrup association. I also wish [name_m]Alexei[/name_m] was more of a boy name here because I think it’s so cute. I would love to see little Jemimas and Alexeis running around :smiley:

Esli sounds very close to [name_u]Presley[/name_u], it could easily be misheard as another name.

I would like to see more people naming their children [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Tara[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f], [name_f]Fern[/name_f], [name_m]Theobald[/name_m], [name_m]Abel[/name_m] and [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]. Their all great names in my opinion but I just don’t anyone naming their children this now.

@ ameliawilliams: [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] is so cute. I’ve never known one.

@ ameliawilliams and kakin: I like sound of [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], too. I think people aren’t using it because they are afraid it will offend.

@ vblanch: I don’t know why I’m not more fond of [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] - because I love [name_f]Delia[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. I think I could learn to love it, though.

@ c@29: So many really nice names. Some of my favorites from your list are: [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f], [name_f]Daenerys[/name_f], [name_u]Calypso[/name_u], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_u]Kai[/name_u], and [name_m]Alec[/name_m] (though [name_m]Alec[/name_m] [name_u]Baldwin[/name_u] ruins it a bit for me), [name_f]Leilani[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], and Théoden. I am not familiar with [name_f]Ffion[/name_f], [name_f]Io[/name_f], and [name_f]Isaura[/name_f].

@ kakin: You are probably right about Esli and [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. Yes, [name_m]Alexei[/name_m] would be cute on boys.

@ mauvebird: I like [name_u]Presley[/name_u], too. It’s weird because I don’t care for [name_u]Leslie[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister named her angel baby [name_f]Tara[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], so that name is special to our family. I’m not brave enough for [name_m]Theobald[/name_m], but I would use [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. I like [name_f]Clover[/name_f], too, but I wouldn’t use it.

I can never like [name_f]Tasmin[/name_f], I just keep thinking of Tasmanian Devil. I like Esli. But I can’t help that my brain thinks it’s a misspelling of [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. I know of two Jeminas, and one [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], [name_f]Tara[/name_f], [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f], [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_m]Alec[/name_m], [name_m]Alexei[/name_m], [name_m]Juan[/name_m], [name_m]Julio[/name_m], [name_m]Romeo[/name_m], [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], [name_u]Noel[/name_u], [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. All of them are in my class, born between 1995-1997. So I think thats nice. But I do agree, they are great names that more people should be aware of. As I child I love the book of [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and I always wanted to named my child [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. I meet a women named [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and I dislike her to the point were the name is no longer usable for me. But I think I would [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] to meet a [name_u]Calypso[/name_u], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Daenerys[/name_f], and a [name_u]Kai[/name_u]. Names to add, [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (I commonly see this a mn, but I want it as a fn!), [name_u]Coley[/name_u] (my current obsession, on a boy), [name_f]Willow[/name_f] (GP, yet to meet a girl with this name), and [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] (on a boy).

I actually know a little boy named [name_m]Esley[/name_m] (I looked Esli up on the site you mentioned and it said [name_m]Esley[/name_m] is a variation!) with a little brother named [name_m]Enoch[/name_m].

I always thought [name_m]Esley[/name_m]'s name was interesting, but I didn’t know it was biblical. I always quite liked it.
