Names you keep coming back To?

Are there any names that you keep coming back to, that regularly vanish from your short list but that always find their way back? That you think you were over but that always reappear? Any that you replaced but after months or years go back to the original?

I know how that goes! [name_u]James[/name_u] has done that for me, as well as [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]! [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] left my list once, but she came back pretty quickly.

The [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] & [name_m]Casper[/name_m] brothers are always going back & forth. Right now I’m preferring [name_m]Casper[/name_m]. Same with [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]/[name_m]Gregor[/name_m].

Probably [name_m]Angus[/name_m], I always convince myself I don’t like the sound and also most people don’t seem to like it so I think they’re right, but I love the nickname [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and I honestly think [name_m]Angus[/name_m] is a gorgeous handsome name that I could really imagine on any type of person

I understand completely, that’s what it’s like for me with [name_u]Lionel[/name_u]/[name_m]Linus[/name_m] and [name_m]Angus[/name_m]/[name_u]August[/name_u], although I think [name_m]Linus[/name_m] and [name_m]Angus[/name_m] will win in the end

All my combos have special meaning and/or honor in some way but some have extra meaning for us and/or honors several family members and those are the ones I seem to keep going back to. [name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is very special to me. I am unsure I would actually use it. Although I would love to be called [name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] myself. [name_m]Piers[/name_m] [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and Maebry [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] are ones that have remained on the top of the list for quite awhile now.

For some reason, I find myself loving [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], even though I have cut it several times from my list! I adore it, but I keep coming up with same old dilemmas I had with it (it rhymes with my name, sounds too close to one of my all time favorites, starts with a J which I couldn’t use because of my love for [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], and on and on it goes.)

It’s [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] for me. Yes, it’s always in my top ten, but when it comes considering it for an actual child, it always gets knocked off because I don’t really like any of the nicknames, and a good nickname is kind of a must for us. Yet I can’t quite seem to let it go for good. (Actually, I’m reading a book right now where a character named [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] goes by Sebi, which I like a whole lot more than the usual Sebby, and it’s making me reconsider [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] again. I’m not totally in love with Sebi, though, either.)

[name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] are just star names to me. There is other names but I’ve never paired them lu into an memorable combination. If I had to pick another it would probably be [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] or [name_f]Keanna[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] or Aoidh [name_u]Rae[/name_u] or [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. Oh I don’t know!!!

[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]. It’s been on and off my short list since I was very young. [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]/[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] float on and off as well.

[name_u]Artemis[/name_u]. I take her off my list and add her back on. Right now she’s off, but I still really like her. I also keep going back to [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Maria[/name_f]. We have a bad family association with [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but I love how classic and pretty it is, so I keep it off, put it on the middle list, take it off. I love [name_f]Maria[/name_f], it’s my middle, but I hate how common it is in the Greek community, so I keep it off, consider it, put it on the middle list. Ugh. And [name_f]Thalia[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] but pronunciation issues makes me take her off my list.
I don’t seem to have this problem with boys names. But I also tend to like more boys names that don’t work in Greek so that is always a problem. I love the name [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], but there is no saint name for [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] in Greek so I take it off, even though I still love it.

I’m so guilty of that, myself.
[name_f]Every[/name_f] few months I come up with a [name_f]Flora[/name_f] replacement and I tell myself how there are negative associations (margarine, guy [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and fauna) but I always come back to it.
I think it might take it’s spot back from [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] soon (which will be moved to the middle) because the more I say or ear people say [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] in English, the more it sounds like people have to concentrate and the pronunciation just doesn’t sound natural even from people who don’t struggle with the Rs. I still absolutely adore it in [name_m]German[/name_m] but since I do want a name that I love in both languages (and possibly Spanish and [name_m]French[/name_m]), i don’t think it will be on my short list much longer.

AND if anyone wants to apply for the job of telling me not to try to replace [name_f]Flora[/name_f] every few months and for two days open 5 new threads about names that are not goog to last anyway, please apply through PM

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]- Loved them since third grade. I prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but neither of them are on my lists right now. I still really like them and would definitely consider them someday, though…

[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]. I love them both since I love most names with repeating l’s but they are far too old fashioned to go with my other favourites, a bit too unusual and I don’t love the obvious nicknames ([name_f]Lally[/name_f] and [name_u]Billie[/name_u]) despite this I’ve loved them both for 4 years.

It’s [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] for me it seems. Years ago I loved it and it was on my shortlist, and then it disappeared for a good couple of years…now it’s back, and at the very top…

[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f], [name_m]Damian[/name_m], St. [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Piers[/name_m], and [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m]. They always find their way back, though : )

For me, it’s [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].

[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] usually goes off because of its insane popularity. I feel that every single (male) child I meet is called [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]. It was also the top name where I live for the past 3-4 years in a row. I’m considering [name_u]Luca[/name_u], but keep adding [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] back… I just love it.

[name_m]Cassius[/name_m] is another name I like, but I only really like it in English… I’m also bothered by people saying ‘cash-us’ instead of ‘cass-ee-us’, which is the pronounciation I prefer. It’s off now, but I can see it coming back…

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] was my top name for years, but it has started to get very popular where I live. I think I would still use it if I love it as much when I have a daughter, but I’m looking for alternatives (thinking about [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]). I also think it sounds very harsh in Spanish, which will likely be my children’s main language.

[name_m]Christian[/name_m], which I have just taken off my list but know that it will return at some point… Its popularity it what really gets me, both where I live but also where I hope to live in the future. So.

For me, it’s been quite a few names. I find that when I’m under stress, I change my lists (hence the frequency!), and generally, I weed out any names that are relatively new, and keep my old favourites, and bring a few back.

The ones I always come back to are:

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

[name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]
[name_u]Alfie[/name_u]
[name_m]Archie[/name_m]

For me, it is [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] for a girl. I’ve contemplated it because of how different and incomplete it sounds but, I love it and will probably end up using it if the time comes.
