Names you like that aren't your typical style

I’m curious to hear everyones’ answers to this.

For girls, I really love [name_u]Kiley[/name_u], [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Jayla[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].

For boys, I really love [name_u]Ira[/name_u], [name_m]Beau[/name_m], [name_m]Booker[/name_m], [name_m]Gannon[/name_m], [name_u]Murphy[/name_u], [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_u]Kamden[/name_u], [name_m]Ian[/name_m] and [name_m]Jago[/name_m].

I feel like I shouldn’t like these names… Like they feel really different from the names I normally like, each for different reasons.

What are names that you can’t help but like, that aren’t your typical style of name?

For girls I like: [name_f]Ada[/name_f]/[name_f]Aida[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], [name_m]Berkley[/name_m], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_u]Drew[/name_u] (as a middle), [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Poet[/name_f], [name_u]Story[/name_u], [name_u]Wren[/name_u]

For boys I like: [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_u]Alcott[/name_u], [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], Caspain/[name_m]Cassian[/name_m]/[name_m]Cassius[/name_m], [name_m]Finnian[/name_m], [name_m]Gable[/name_m], [name_u]Gaylen[/name_u], [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_u]Porter[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m]

I usually like common and somewhat popular names with a few uncommon but heard of ones. These names I don’t think fit in with my usual style of [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_f]Valerie[/name_f], [name_m]Greyson[/name_m], etc…Usually when I come across names like this I’m surprised when I like them

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you mean like a guilty pleasure name?

I love [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] but it’s way more “out there” than most of the names I like. I actually kind of wish I had the guts to use it, but I’m pretty sure my husband would rather name someone [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] [name_u]Marley[/name_u] Lastname than [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f].

For boys I like: [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], [name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], [name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m]
For girls I like: [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] usual style is unusual, vintage and what I like to call whimsical. But especially for boys I like some really popular names, but I only ever use them for middles (except [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]).

I usually like old-fashioned, vintage names like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], biblical names like [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m]. Some classic names, too, like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] guilty pleasures aren’t even names! They are hippie-dippie style: [name_u]Cerulean[/name_u], [name_f]Cypress[/name_f], [name_m]Banyan[/name_m], [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f]

[name_f]Meilani[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], [name_m]David[/name_m] (with Croatian pronunciation)…

[name_f]My[/name_f] style is definitely vintage, if someone handed me the SSA top 100 from 1880 as a name list, almost every single name would be highlighted as a favourite (although that’d be the case for any list up to about 1924).

Some names that don’t fit with the vintage vibe;

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Nicola[/name_u], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]-[name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], [name_f]Lillie[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]India[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f]-[name_f]Lily[/name_f].

[name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], [name_u]Blake[/name_u], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_u]Ashton[/name_u], [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_m]Sean[/name_m], [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], [name_m]Brogan[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m].

As you can see in my signature, I really like Lumi, as well as other Scandinavian names, but Scandinavian names don’t really fit my naming style. I like antique, clunky names. I also really like virtue names, not like [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], or [name_f]Hope[/name_f], but [name_f]Temperance[/name_f], [name_f]Prudence[/name_f], etc. I also love the British naming style, which I guess could also be my style.

Not really guilty pleasure names… Like, a lot of the names I said I would love to use, but I feel like they wouldn’t fit [name_f]MY[/name_f] child. Maybe that doesn’t make sense.

[name_f]My[/name_f] guilty pleasures are names that I like but would never use because I think they are too out there.

Maybe this question just asks to specify a certain type of your guilty pleasure names? I’m not sure. It’s however you want to take it, I guess.

[name_f]My[/name_f] usual style is kind of offbeat and modern, but I do love a few traditional and/or common names such as [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and [name_f]Hailey[/name_f]

I usually don’t like names that are common at all, top one hundred is too popular for me. And yet for some reason I can’t help but love [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], and [name_m]William[/name_m] for boys, and [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Zoey[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] for girls.

@sarahmeganc [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], in your signature is another one that I feel like it doesn’t match me, but I like it. I met one of my future professors today and his two year old son is named [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]. And I’m smitten.

[name_f]My[/name_f] style is all over the place, so I don’t really have names that fall out of my specific style :).

I really like both [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] and [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], but they’re both way too out there in comparison to the rest of my names.

The thing is, I don’t have a real style. None of my names go together! Interesting question, though

[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is a recent addition to my long list that is a long way off my usual quirky style. I’m also discovering the appeal of heavier vintage type names like [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].

As for boys, while I usually dislike surnames as firsts in general, I added [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] to my long list not too long ago and also quite like [name_m]Andersen[/name_m].

I’m usually not one for nature names but recently I’ve fallen for [name_f]Maple[/name_f] and [name_f]Bryony[/name_f].

I still to this day love [name_m]Brogan[/name_m], [name_u]Cade[/name_u], [name_m]Cavan[/name_m], [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] for boy’s but I’d never use them. As for girl’s names I really like [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] on a girl and I’ve always said I would never use a trendy name…

I’m usually into really ‘proper’, actual name names, but I am liking some nicknames and even some word names of late.

For girls: [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Emerald[/name_f]

For boys: [name_m]Beau[/name_m], [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m], [name_m]Harry[/name_m], [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_m]Luke[/name_m]

Common classics are generally nms, but I do like [name_f]Marianne[/name_f], [name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]/[name_m]Louis[/name_m], and [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u].
