I love the name [name_m]Jared[/name_m], but I can’t use it, because, in my family, [name_m]Jared[/name_m] is our code word for diarrhea.

Here’s the story:

One day, we went to a restaurant together, and Dad had to use the bathroom. He was taking a long time, and Mom and I were confused. Meanwhile, at the bathroom, an old man walked up to the door, knocking on it and asking “Jared, [name_m]Jared[/name_m], are you in there, Jared”? And then [name_m]Jared[/name_m] answered with “Grandpa, I think I have diarrhea”!

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] since that moment, the name [name_m]Jared[/name_m] has become permanently associated with diarrhea.

  • [name_m]Deveraux[/name_m] (would probably get pronunciation and spelling issues all the time, plus im not french and don’t have any french heritage)
  • [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] (love it, but too rare in my country and i don’t have any russian heritage so that’d probably be so weird)
  • [name_m]Astrophel[/name_m] & [name_m]Pendragon[/name_m] (probably too much lol, just gps)

I love Hawaiian names, and they remind me of my Dad, who looooves [name_u]Hawaii[/name_u], but I’m white and feel like it would be moderately inappropriate/appropriative.
