Names you love, but wouldn't use

Out of curiosity, I’d like to see some of the names that you lovely berries adore and would love to meet a baby with the name, but wouldn’t give to a daughter for some reason, whether it be that a partner has nixed it, you have a close family member with it, bad associations either with pop culture or just personal experience, or because of it being too popular/too out-there.

For me, it’s mostly super frilly, girly names, like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], and [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], as well as shorter names that are spunky yet sweet, but that I would worry about holding up as a full name, like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]

Although I think they are adorable, I would never use [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] on a little girl. I think that they wouldn’t age well at all. I can’t imagine a middle aged woman named [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], but they are gorgeous on a little girl!

[name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Leandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] - some of my favourites but I’ve used them on characters

Sybil, Portia, Lucretia—too dramatic for my family
Muriel–not quite ready for a comeback
Rue–meaning
Niamh–pronunciation
Siobhan–pronunciation

[name_f]Thalia[/name_f], [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]: I think the names are beautiful, but I wouldn’t use a Greek name since I associate Greece with bad experiences
[name_u]Stanley[/name_u]: It depends on whether or not it’s ready for a comeback by the time I’m old enough to have children! I really love it though
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f]: I’m afraid that people would call her [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] which is the name of a sexual act in my native language
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]: They’re all way too popular for me
[name_u]Sunny[/name_u]: I think this is adorable but I feel like it could be hard for an adult to wear. Maybe as a nickname to [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]: Two childhood friends of mine are called [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] and [name_m]Harry[/name_m], if I named a kid either of those names my other childhood friends could feel left out. And it’d be weird to have two Cosmos.

[name_m]Issac[/name_m], [name_m]Luke[/name_m]- unfortunate associations
[name_m]Leander[/name_m]- it’s more of a guilty pleasure and I can’t come up with a wearable nickname.
[name_m]Cosmas[/name_m]- No intuitive English pronunciation.

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] it, but niece already has this name.
[name_f]Tamara[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], etc- [name_u]Love[/name_u] the names, but I don’t even know how I would pronounce those “A” sounds most of the time.
