Names you loved as a child

I feel like I’ve seen a post like this before but I cannot find it, so credit to the original!! But, I’m curious…. All my long time name nerds out there, what were names you loved as a kid!!

Mine are

[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] <3 OG #1
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f] <3 OG #2
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f]
[name_u]Julie[/name_u] ( my name is [name_f]Julia[/name_f] & I loved it because I used to have the [name_u]Julie[/name_u] American girl doll!!)
Emrielle ( I’ve had this name on my list for a LONG time!)

For masculine names the list isn’t long and I can only remember two I really liked
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
[name_u]Kingston[/name_u]
I’ve since fallen out of love with these two but they’re still great names!

I was set on twins named [name_m]Simba[/name_m] [name_m]Kale[/name_m] & [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] (I was OBSESSED with [name_m]Lion[/name_m] King). Also added [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_f]Kenley[/name_f] (boy), [name_m]Damien[/name_m], and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] later on as their siblings! I know only like [name_f]Kenley[/name_f] on a girl lol.

I loved [name_f]English[/name_f] names that I thought sounded cool at the time, like [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] for girls. As for names that were actually allowed in [name_f]Iceland[/name_f], I liked Vaka and [name_f]Edda[/name_f].

For boys I’ve always loved [name_u]Noah[/name_u], which also wasn’t allowed in [name_f]Iceland[/name_f] at the time (but it is now) and its Icelandic variant Nói.

I know I’m forgetting many of them, but I recall loving:

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Reeve[/name_u]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]

[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_u]Carson[/name_u]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]

I still love all of these names, actually! Most of them are still on my lists as either firsts or middles.

I liked very classic, literary, cottagecore, vintage names when I was younger (as in, ages 6-13.)
Some examples are:

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]

I still love all these names (Agnes continues to be my top 1) but many of them have become a bit too popular for my taste and are no longer really shining for me.

The first name I ever loved was… [name_u]December[/name_u] [name_u]Fern[/name_u] for a girl :herb:

I was obsessed with [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a little kid! Other than that, I liked [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Candace[/name_f], [name_u]Shelly[/name_u], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_u]Alexis[/name_u], [name_m]Huck[/name_m], and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. There’s probably more that I’ve forgotten. [name_f]My[/name_f] name taste has definitely evolved since then haha

By the time I entered my name nerd era in middle school, I started writing down my favorites. Some of the highlights include [name_f]Annette[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Marcia[/name_f], [name_u]Willow[/name_u], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], [name_f]Melanie[/name_f], [name_u]Julie[/name_u], [name_f]Angela[/name_f], [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], [name_f]Lara[/name_f], [name_u]Shelby[/name_u], [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], [name_u]Walter[/name_u], [name_u]Toby[/name_u], [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], [name_u]Wilson[/name_u], [name_m]Ronald[/name_m], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_u]Percy[/name_u], [name_u]Barrett[/name_u], [name_m]Merrick[/name_m], and [name_m]Alan[/name_m].

But the lovely [name_f]Diana[/name_f] was the first name I ever thought I’d use on my daughter

It’s really interesting to see all your lists, because they’re (mostly) so different from the kinds of lists I’m used to seeing here!

For me it was:

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] (I so wished this was my name)
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]

The last 2 have continued to be my favourites (one of my daughters is Eleanor).

For boys:

[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_m]Brendan[/name_m]

I loved Jacqueline Wilson books when I was younger and I thought all of the names in her books were so fancy and exotic so I really loved Emerald, Opal, Sapphire, Jodie, Pearl, Garnet, Dixie, Pixie, Clover, Matilda, Marigold, Star and India. I especially loved Queenie. I also remember liking Dolphin as a name for quite a bit, and having an obsession with Star and Dolphin as sisters after reading one particular book!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

When I was really young (grade school) I loved the names [name_f]Amber[/name_f] & [name_u]Austin[/name_u]. Once I was a teen, I fell hard for [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] & [name_u]Finlay[/name_u]. Still love those three! I’m lukewarm on [name_f]Amber[/name_f] & [name_u]Austin[/name_u] now.
