Names you used to like

Anyone remember the first name(s) they ever liked? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you still like them or are you absolutely disgusted?

I remember loving [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] and [name_f]Mia[/name_f] when I was really little (which i would never use now). I also remember the 7 combos that began my “baby name obsession.” For girls it was [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] & [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (3\4 of thse are still on my longlist) And for boys I liked [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], (always and forever my #1 boy name) [name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_u]William[/name_u] & [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] (I still like those 2)

I’d love you hear your take!

One of the first names I ever loved was Sunny on a girl! I do still absolutely love it. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I also had a phase where Linda was my favorite name… and I don’t love that one anymore!

I loved [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] and [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] for girls. I went off them massively when my taste got much shorter and less conventionally “girly”, but they’re really growing on me again lately — especially the first two.

For boys, I’ve always loved short, punchy names. [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_u]Rex[/name_u], [name_u]Jack[/name_u], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m] — still love or really like all of these.

When I was a kid, I loved [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f], which I still love now! I didn’t like any boys names which seemed pretty prophetic to the fact i struggle with boys names now

I went through a phase of loving [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_f]Lorilyn[/name_f], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], and [name_u]Mandy[/name_u] too which aren’t my vibe now.

I used to really love [name_f]Gina[/name_f] and [name_f]Rita[/name_f] when I was younger, I don’t hate either of them but I would not use it! I didn’t really have any favourite boy names, I was far more interested in girl names (thing’s haven’t really changed!)

I also remember liking [name_u]Clemmie[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], but someone told me it sounded like ‘clammy’ and I was put off for life!

I went through a phase of liking more common/trendy names (taylor, emma, madelyn, caitlin). seeing them go in-and-out of love with the general population has steered me toward more vintage-classic names now.

for the boys, the –on ending has always been my style. emerson, lawson, wilson, etc. are still favorites of mine.

hmm…definitely i’ve liked willa for a long time! and opal. i remember liking lillian, charlotte, and birdie in middle school. not sure on boy names - charles maybe?

I used to like a lot more boy names on girls. I still like some but I’m a lot less likely to go for this particular style.

My favorite boy name used to be Jack, I still really like it but I’m more likely to go for something a bit softer and uncommon.

I still like a lot of my past favorites, but they aren’t really special to me anymore. They were much more common compared to my current favorites. Examples are Ethan, Isaac, Lily and Mia.

when i was little i remember being obsessed with kira, maeve, and quinn for girls!! for boys it was always wyatt and jackson haha

I really liked [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f], neither of which I “dislike”, but I don’t love them anymore. I’m kinda neutral

Some of the first names I liked were [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] and [name_m]Jason[/name_m]. Very contrasting styles! I think [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] started by obsession with rose names, and I still like it. [name_m]Jason[/name_m] isn’t much to my taste anymore.

[name_f]Isis[/name_f]. It was a childhood favourite but I went off it around 2014, for fairly obvious reasons. I also really liked [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] but those are a bit too popular/common for my taste now.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first ever name I remember loving was [name_f]Trinity[/name_f] which I still like even if I did just move it off my list.

I used to love [name_u]Maria[/name_u] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but not anymore. Same with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].

I also loved [name_u]Noah[/name_u], which I still like but is too common for me.

[name_u]Emerson[/name_u], I mean it’s alright, but I don’t love it as much as I did!

I loved the name [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] and had I become a mother of a girl between 18-23 that would have been her name for sure. I’m sort of glad that didn’t happen, as it’s lost its charm for me pretty much completely! I still like all the boys names I ever loved, including [name_u]Wesley[/name_u] as my top name from that same age group and it’s still in my top running.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I remember a few that I used to like & no longer do. Mostly in middle school/high school. I’m 38 now for reference.

Girls-

Amber-This was my favorite from the ages of about 9-16. I don’t like it much anymore, but I’m not offended by it either.

Brinley-I liked this as a young teenager, & I am offended by it now. :joy:

Caitlin-I used to love this as a teenager too. But only this spelling, so at least I can be proud of my teenager self for that. I still find it really trendy & tired now though.

Julia-I used to super love this one when I was in high school. I’m not sure what happened, but I’m just not into anymore. It’s not even a kind of like name. There’s nothing wrong w/it. Maybe it just got tired.

Madelyn-I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] quite a bit still, but find [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] to look off. I like this a lot when I was a pre-teen.

Nicole-Ugh, I don’t like this one anymore at all. It’s not a bad name…just feels so dated.

Zoe-I used to love this, but I am just so sick of it now. It’s totally lost its sparkle.

Boys-

Austin-I loved this & then went through a long period of finding it too trendy & not liking it. Now I kind of like it again, but don’t love it.

Corey-I thought that this was adorable, but now I just think it’s dated.

Justin-Yeah, same as above.

Kyle-This is my least favorite of the three 90s names that I used to like & now don’t. [name_m]Just[/name_m] kind of meh.

Lucas-I liked that movie in the 80s named this, & found this charming. Now I find it trendy & over done. I still like [name_m]Luc[/name_m] or [name_u]Luca[/name_u].

And then there are those names that I loved as a kid that I still do!

Girls-

Adeline-I was so ahead of the ‘Addie’ trends.

[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]

[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]

Boys-

Finlay-I was so ahead of the trends here too  I read it in a baby name book in 1997 & loved it.

[name_u]Henry[/name_u]

[name_u]Julian[/name_u]

[name_m]Matthew[/name_m]

[name_u]William[/name_u]

[name_m]Colm[/name_m] was my first name love! Still like it but wouldn’t use it due to pronunciation. Interesting to me that my first name love was a boys name since I find it much easier to find girls names I like now.

I used to absolutely adore Ocean Marie for a little girl. I would never use that now, although Ocean is a lovely name. Indigo Ria and Maple Eloise were also name’s I loved. I like all three of the middle name’s but not the first name’s as much as I did.
