There’s nothing more frustrating to me than absolutely LOVING a name, and having my husband veto it with a sigh, or worse, make “The Face” - his sort of trademark cross between an eyeroll and a lip curl. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ve had to really learn to work around his style - he tends to favor über popular names ([name]Emily[/name], [name]Riley[/name]), or names that were trendy when we were kids ([name]Melissa[/name], [name]Hillary[/name]). I’m much more quirky, and I really have to rein in my more fanciful ideas!

Names he has nixed include:

My hubby has literally vetoed 100s of names with this one…our 4th. He has come up with one name and althought I don’t hate it I also don’t love it! My favs are

He is having none of them :frowning:

Hubby is definitely not sold on [name]Helena[/name], which is one of my top two names! He has a tendency to change his mind, though, so I’m going to try and wear him down :slight_smile: He also doesn’t like either of my top two boy choices, [name]Leander[/name] or [name]Solomon[/name] :frowning: Those might be harder sells.

Oh I didn’t say before; that was just the girls list. He’s been BETTER on girls. He’s vetoed probably thirty of my favourite boys’ names.

Oh man, I know what you mean. And he always says “If you have a child name that, they’re not mine.”, then I know he’s seriously against it.

[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Christian[/name], and virtually any name with the nn [name]Chris[/name]. He was okay with [name]Christian[/name] for a while, but then nixed it.

Everything else he’s nixed, I got over, or I got him to come around. Or I just don’t recall atm.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! The list I posted was just the tip of the iceberg. We don’t agree AT ALL on girls’ names; boys’ names are still challenging but a lot better. We named [name]Asher[/name] before he was ever conceived; if we have another boy he’ll probably be [name]Leo[/name] or [name]Owen[/name] since those are two others we didn’t have to fight on. [name]Bettina[/name] was ridiculously hard to name. [name]Heaven[/name] forbid we have another girl!

He has nixed [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Delia[/name] and [name]Helene[/name]. But many many more get the grimace and raised eyebrow… :expressionless:

We are having such a hard time with girls names! He has virtually nixed everything I’ve come up with and vice versa. Boy will be [name]James[/name] [name]Glen[/name]. That’s done. haha Boys are so much easier. Girls are a pain!

I wanted to post this exact question so many times, but never got around to it. This is SO frustrating! He nixes so many names I love in the exact way you’re describing- with “the face” and an off putting sigh. He also likes names that were popular when we were growing up. He has nixed the following:
