Partially inspired by blade’s Ugliest names thread, are there any names you love, but don’t really want to love?
Mine: [name]Aiden[/name] / [name]Jadon[/name] … I know the universal NB hatred, but I like them. They have nice meanings. They’re easy to say. They kinda work in Spanish. sigh
I actually kinda like Aiden, too. But not Jadon…at all.
There aren’t a lot of names I’m afraid to admit to liking. At least on NB. In real life, I might keep quiet about liking names like Lyric and Fox. I also like Harper, but nothing else in the same style, and I doubt I’d ever use it. Oh, another ‘guilty pleasure’ name… I love Ever!
For girls, [name]Ortensia[/name] ([name]Hortensia[/name] and [name]Hortense[/name] as well). And I think [name]India[/name]'s cute… For boys, I like [name]Russell[/name] & [name]Warren[/name]. Not really afraid to admit it, but I never really mention them.
In general on nameberry: [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Mia[/name], [name]Ava[/name], [name]Emma[/name], [name]Amelia[/name]…I think the top girls names right now, for the most part, are truly lovely and I will probably end up using, I just don’t recommend them often because so many ppl on here seem so anti top 100.
In general in real life: [name]Ebenezer[/name] and [name]Beulah[/name] top the list
@ ottilie is it strange that I don’t like [name]Hortense[/name], but think that [name]Ortensia[/name] completely changes the name?
@ lineska I also like the top girls names right now. This is what I meant… I like them, but don’t want to like them.
I am not afraid to admit, but I am a bit afraid to use them in real life. But who knows…
[name]Candice[/name] nn [name]Candy[/name](when she is small) - I don’t immediately think of a stripper!
[name]Holland[/name] - weird, I know. But cute.
[name]Ava[/name] - wonderful meaning, sound, simplicity…But not the popularity!
[name]Blakely[/name] - masculine for a girl, feminine for a boy.
Levine - I wish I could use this for a boy with nn [name]Levi[/name]. Very handsome, very Jewish and…very [name]Adam[/name] Levine for most.
[name]Ginger[/name] - I don’t think it’s a pet name at all.
[name]David[/name] - sounds like a dad/grandfather name…and popular too. But I will be glad to meet or even date young, attractive guy named [name]David[/name](I know only 35+ men with that name!)
[name]Armando[/name], [name]Bruno[/name] - same with [name]Ginger[/name].
[name]Russel[/name] - I don’t think it’s dated at all. But looks like everybody else does.
[name]Ryan[/name] - same with [name]Ava[/name].
[name]Aidan[/name] is a nice name, I remember liking it before it exploded.
I really like Yollanda, [name]Yvan[/name] and [name]Ferdinand[/name]. I also love some top names like [name]Emma[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Ethan[/name] and [name]Maya[/name].
Hey berries! [name]New[/name] here and finally coming out of denial with my naming obsessions.
I do have a fondness for [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Olivia[/name] (mainly because I like [name]Liv[/name] as a nickname). [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] for boys. I would never actually go with the girl names, but I might with the boy names despite their popularity. My off-the-wall choices are Ludowika (pronounced Loo-doh-vee-kah) for a girl. It’s not an unheard of name in Germany although it’s extremely oldfashioned, but in the US it would be hell on a kid. For boys I have a serious crush on [name]Roman[/name] names like [name]Tiberius[/name]. I LOOOOVE [name]Tiberius[/name], but I think everyone thinks of [name]James[/name] [name]Tiberius[/name] [name]Kirk[/name]. And what an awesome name is that!
I really hate admitting it but I like the sound of [name]Renesmee[/name] - I like the look of it too - but would never even consider using it - ever!
I looove [name]Aiden[/name]/[name]Aidan[/name] too! Such a shame that it’s so popular, the variants are really annoying. Is the spelling [name]Ayden[/name] really necessary?
My big one is [name]Kade[/name]! I’ve got such a crush on it, it is unreal. Also [name]Karson[/name] for a girl (no idea what it is with me and K’s!) And [name]Roberta[/name], because everytime I say it people look at me like I belong in a mental institute.
I really love [name]Saylor[/name]/[name]Sailor[/name], which has been pretty universally panned on NB. I also have a soft spot for the equally-derided boys’ occupation name [name]Pilot[/name]. I love W names, particularly [name]Wallace[/name], [name]Walter[/name], and [name]Waldo[/name], which are not particularly popular on this site ([name]Wallace[/name] was brought up on the “ugliest name” thread). [name]Thaddeus[/name], [name]Roscoe[/name], and [name]Darwin[/name] have also received decidedly mixed reviews. Oh, and I absolutely love [name]Hero[/name] for a girl!
Sadly, all of my enemies have beautiful names, though popular. [name]Jade[/name], [name]Jaylynn[/name], [name]Anessa[/name]. I’d never tell anyone that I envy those names, but I do like them. I like old-fashioned names… Greek and [name]Roman[/name] names. I love meaningful names… [name]Iris[/name] is among my favorites. I love British names. [name]Alastair[/name] kind of sounds like an old man, but I just… I can’t.
You can tack [name]Lee[/name]/[name]Lyn[/name] onto an odd amount of regular words, and I will like a lot as a full on names. I present: [name]Everly[/name], [name]Waverly[/name], Novalee, Brecclyn, Novolin, Lachlyn, etc. I have tried to resist the creative namer in me for a long time, but I’m getting so bored with [name]Imogen[/name]/[name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Claire[/name] all the time these names just sound really interesting!!
(Novolin is an insulin. I was just kidding on that one).
I know that there is the whole [name]Aiden[/name]/[name]Kayden[/name] trend but I have to admit I really love the name [name]Aiden[/name], would never use it due to the hypertrendiness of it, but it has a great meaning and has a nice sound to me.
I’m quite fond of Olabelle (which was a name I found digging deep into my family tree) but all I ever get is a scrunched up face from folks when I mention it.
I’m so glad to see I’m not alone… I felt like a NB weirdo because I like weird / uber trendy names sometimes. Poppy528- I have a huge crush on [name]Everly[/name]!
