Does anyone else have names that they know they can’t use for some reason and are sad to say goodbye to? Mine are:
[name]Leo[/name] - a friend (not pregnant or even anywhere close to it) told me that it was her boys name and she will be mad if anyone steals it. My husband and I had been considering it.
[name]Amelia[/name] - I love [name]Amelia[/name] but I love [name]Amelie[/name] slightly more. We have decided to use [name]Amelie[/name] but it makes me sad that I will never be able to use [name]Amelia[/name].
[name]Eloise[/name] - I love it but my husband doesn’t.
I have had my heart set on [name]Malcolm[/name] if we ever had another boy. I am 32 weeks preggo with our second boy now but my hubby and other kids completely vetoed [name]Malcolm[/name]. We have decided to name this one [name]Alec[/name] but now I can never use [name]Malcolm[/name] b/c the [name]MAL[/name] and [name]AL[/name]
of [name]Malcolm[/name] and [name]Alec[/name] would be silly together.
The next pet, though…definitely [name]Malcolm[/name]!
I have always wanted to use my grandma’s name [name]Lela[/name]. But, my husband’s best friend used the name three months ago! I went through a whole grieving process, like the name died!
We use family names (and variations) so I will be asking everyone’s help when I finally get pregnant!
Oh, I’ve got a long list of these since my husband keeps vetoing all my favorites. But the two that make me saddest are [name]Dylan[/name] (because I know too many teachers and they have told me horror stories about Dylans) and [name]Emma[/name] (which I liked thanks to [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name] NOT Friends, and now I fear it’s just too popular to use).
For me it’s [name]Oliver[/name]. When I was about 4 years old my grandma was making me a doll, I knew. My mom got out all the name books and we looked through them to find a name for him. I chose [name]Oliver[/name] and I’ve loved it ever since. Unfortunately, it’s becoming more popular but really it’s that my new last name begins with an R. [name]Olive[/name] a R… just doesn’t sound right, but maybe I can slip it in the middle sometime.
I am pregnant with my second and last child (first [name]Sophia[/name] Lynae). we already have names for both boy and girl and we love them both - I am especially fond of the girl name.
This week I found out we are expecting a BOY! I am not dissapointed that we are having a boy but I am SO sad to say goodbye to [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Lily[/name]!
[name]Theo[/name]! I [name]LOVE[/name] this name but we named our first son [name]Thad[/name] and I don’t want to set up a “Th” trend. Plus they feel too similar to me. Sad.
Also, I loved the name [name]Ava[/name] as a little girl, and I still think it is beautiful, but it stands out more when there aren’t a million other little [name]Ava[/name]'s out there, so I consider it not an option any more.
[name]Lydia[/name]… I am seriously mourning this name. It is THE GIRLS NAME for me, but my boyfriend hates it. He had two [name]Lydia[/name]'s as school advisors and they were absolutely horrible, and I can’t get him past that association. :o(
First of all, if you love [name]Leo[/name] then use it. Your friend may never have a boy. It’d be different if she was pregnant and it’s not like she owns the name. For me it’s [name]Felix[/name]. The second I saw it in the name book I was in love. Then my husband vetoed it in a flash! Also the name [name]Weston[/name], because a friend of ours named their little boy that.

Oh for [name]Nevaeh[/name]'s sake - you can’t claim a name. No one owns a name. She’s not even pg, and if she was, she’d have to prove it on the birth certificate because chosen names have a way of changing.
Anyway, I’m sad to see [name]Evangeline[/name] go - My name is [name]Angel[/name] (messanger) and [name]Evangeline[/name] means message, but it’s to close to [name]Emmeline[/name] for me.
I know I could use it but I’m too much of a people pleaser…I hate having people mad at me. The funny thing is, she told me she hasn’t even mentioned it to her boyfriend so he might hate it anyway. Anyway, my husband have since decided on [name]Charles[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] (nn [name]Charlie[/name]) which I actually like more. And, I’m pretty sure it’s a girl anyway so boys names might not even matter.
There are sooo many…sigh. ‘L’ names are out now due to our son having an ‘l’ name. So goodbye [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Lila[/name], [name]Leopold[/name], and [name]Lorenzo[/name]. Names ending with an ‘r’ or -ra are also out, due to our last name. So no [name]Flora[/name], [name]Clara[/name] (a favorite Aunt, so this one makes me extra sad!), [name]Nora[/name], [name]Zara[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Jasper[/name] or [name]Casper[/name], [name]Hector[/name], or [name]Victor[/name]. You don’t realize how many boy names end in ‘r’ until you have a surname beginning with one!
[name]Suzanna[/name] - I’ve had my children and am not having any more… I had two boys, and I love them (and their names) dearly! However, [name]Suzanna[/name] is my name, and my father’s mother’s name (whom I never met - Our same name is our only tie). I regret not being able to pass down a family name that has been used in our family for many generations. Right now, I dream that one of my boys will carry on the name [name]Suzanna[/name] with one of their daughters… but it’s only dreams as my oldest is just starting first grade (and I KNOW that I have no say in what they name their children - so sad).
I had to say goodbye to [name]Caroline[/name]…my favorite girl’s name!
We have a long 3-syllable last name, and if we had picked [name]Caroline[/name], our daughter’s first and last names together would have had 18 letters!
my favorite girl name has always been [name]Avery[/name]. but when I married and my last name became [name]Benson[/name], my brother said [name]Avery[/name] [name]Benson[/name] sounded like an old man It really ruined it for me. I still think about doing a double middle name for a girl and using [name]Avery[/name] as the first middle name.
I’m also very sad I can never use [name]Addison[/name]. [name]Addison[/name] [name]Benson[/name] and any name ending w/ “son” just does not work
[name]Isabel[/name]- We both love the name. Infact, I think I love it above all other names, even [name]Cecily[/name]. But it is just too popular to use. We always said we would give our kids unique names and [name]Isabel[/name] doesnt fit the bill. Still, it is so beautiful and perhaps could make a nice mn someday.
[name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Felix[/name]- I fought hard for these but my partner doesnt like them.
