Hello!
We are naming our THIRD girl and I looking ideas for first and middle names!
Sisters’ names are:
Margaret (Molly) Rose
Claire Elizabeth
We like feminine names that are familiar but not overused and pass the “supreme court justice” test.
We are leaning heavily toward Bridget. I love it’s meaning but struggle with the finding a short form of the name that I like. I am having a difficult time committing!
As far as middle name. For Bridget, I’ve been thinking Katheryn. It’s my mom’s first name, and my middle name. Thoughts? Am I missing anything terrible about Bridget Katheryn? lol
If any other names come to mind that go well with sisters’ names, I would love to see them!
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Katheryn[/name_f] is so sweet! I don’t know if you plan to use nicknames, but [name_f]Bri[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] are adorable, and fit very well with [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] fits very well!
I think you could get away with many nicknames!
[name_f]Bee[/name_f]
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridie[/name_f]
[name_f]Gidget[/name_f]
[name_f]Bree[/name_f]
[name_f]Bette[/name_f]
[name_f]Gigi[/name_f]
[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to the Nameberry community! [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Katheryn[/name_f] would be a lovely choice and hits the check marks you are hoping for. Other suggestions just in case…
I love [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], on its own and with your daughters’ names. I also like the [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] spelling better than the [name_f]Katheryn[/name_f] spelling, but since it’s a family name and would just be in the middle name spot I’d probably stick with [name_f]Katheryn[/name_f] in your situation.
I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] and [name_u]Brit[/name_u] and [name_f]Bree[/name_f] as nicknames for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], although I wouldn’t think of it as a name that really requires a nickname.
If you’re looking for any other ideas, [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] reminds me a bit of [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] - same sort of energy and same approximate origin.
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] is refreshing and stylish! Unfortunately, the movie Trolls comes to mind when I hear the name as my daughter loved the movie when it was released. I hate that the movie used such a darling name when selecting names for Trolls. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is another name I used to love until I saw the movie.
These names also come to mind with your daughters’ names:
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] is wonderful! [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Bri[/name_f] or [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] could be nicknames.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you call [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or only [name_f]Molly[/name_f]? I feel like [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] are quite close. [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] is on my list, and the middle name I have picked in [name_f]Lynnette[/name_f]. Some other suggestions are [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Annelise[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Harriett[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Liana[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Roberta[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]!
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Katheryn[/name_f] is perfect w/Molly & [name_f]Claire[/name_f]! I really love [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. It’s simple, smart, sweet, quiet but has a bit of spunk at the same time. I love the nn [name_f]Bridie[/name_f], personally. Biridie could work though? [name_u]Or[/name_u] just [name_f]Bee[/name_f]?
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] is gorgeous. She couls have the nicknames [name_f]Bee[/name_f], Bri/Bree, [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_u]Jett[/name_u], [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Bridie[/name_f]?
With [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], I’ll also suggest…
I like [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Katheryn[/name_f]! You could also use Catherine/Katherine as an alternate spelling.
All of the names you like seem to be classic and elegant, so I’ll also suggest [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] exclusively goes by Molly…especially around the house. I don’t think there will be any issues with sound similarity. But I can definitely see the issue if we did!
I love love love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] but that got vetoed by my husband haha
Your girls names are gorgeous together! I think [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Katheryn[/name_f] is a perfect compliment to her sisters.
Does [name_f]Claire[/name_f] have a nickname as well? You could do Bridie/B. [name_u]Jet[/name_u] is a fun one too! [name_f]My[/name_f] best friend is just Bridget-though occasionally I’ll call her [name_m]Bridge[/name_m].
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] frequently gets called [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] but its a less official nickname that [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is.
I’m thinking that if we end up using [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] (we are like 98% on that) we will probably use the full name most of the time. At least its a bit more little-girl friendly than [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] which has always seemed way too mature or stately for a baby/young girl.
