Naming a border collie dog

We are adopting a 6 month old male puppy. He is a rescue dog who was a stray so the rescue centre have named Creasy. He doesn’t recognise his name and we don’t want his name!

Names we like are

jasper
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
milo
felix
rupert
theo

we have a 4 year old border collie called maddie

I think [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] all work. I like [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] the best.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]

with working dogs one syllable names are best. my first border collie was [name_f]Babe[/name_f] (a very typical border collie name; her owner/breeder was a sheep farmer from [name_f]Scotland[/name_f]) and my second was [name_f]May[/name_f]. Rupe might be cute.

[name_m]Milo[/name_m] is a high energy name. Border collies are high energy dogs.
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] gets my vote! I like [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m] together.

[name_u]Theo[/name_u]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.

I disagree with pp about 1 syllable names being best. Dogs find it easiest to recognize their name if it’s 2 syllables. Otherwise, they can confuse it with 1 syllable commands (Sit, come, down, fetch, stay, wait, paw ect.) I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m]!

Agree with pp, [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m] go great.

I’m Going to have to third that… [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m] is just too cute
