Naming a cat?

[name]Hi[/name], Berries!

The other day a stray cat wandered into my backyard, and I have foolishly fallen in love with it. The cat is a lovely marmalade color, and very sweet. For now, I do not know it’s gender, or whether it will stick around, but I think this cat needs a name! Here are some of my ideas:

Girls:
Pemberley (Pride and Prejudice)
[name]Beatrix[/name] ([name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name])
[name]Daisy[/name] (The Great [name]Gatsby[/name])
[name]Ophelia[/name] ([name]Hamlet[/name])
[name]Scarlett[/name] (Gone With the Wind)

Boys:
[name]Hugo[/name] ([name]Victor[/name] [name]Hugo[/name])
[name]Atticus[/name] (To Kill A Mockingbird)
[name]Oscar[/name] ([name]Oscar[/name] Wilde)
[name]Tennyson[/name] ([name]Lord[/name] [name]Alfred[/name] [name]Tennyson[/name])

I really like historical and literary names. Any suggestions?

I like Pemberley. It’s cute and different

Thanks for the input! Pemberley is my front runner for sure.

If its orange, I think most likely a boy - 75 - 80% of orange cats are male. I like [name]Percival[/name] (one of [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name]'s knights of the Round Table).

I like [name]Ophelia[/name] and [name]Atticus[/name]!

I really like Pemberly as it could be male or female.

I’ve never owned a cat but I suggest going with the first name you thought of when you meet the kitty. It worked for my bunny and I was never unhappy. (Though I was 7 when I got him and so naming his Spotty wasn’t super original).
