It’s definitely too much for me.
Both are way too much, but Maryestelle just sounds silly so I went with the first option
Ok i definitely see how its too much but certainly dont agree that its “silly” but thank u for the responses!
This is too much I’m sorry. What about [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]? Or [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]?
In some family there are people who are giving forefathers names to the coming generation to keep their names and the manners and culture of the society.
I don’t necessarily think it’s too much. Naming after all 4 grandmothers would make for a long name, but if it’s a tradition or important to you, then go for it. Most people will only know her first name anyway.
I wouldn’t smoosh - it doesn’t make the name shorter and it dilutes the meaning (and the meaning is what what justifies the many names, for me).
If you feel 4 names are too many, you could consider leaving out whichever grandmother shared the baby’s last name (assuming one did. Often this would be your father-in-law’s mother), and letting the surname honour her. I realise that’s not perfect, especially if the surname was her married name (as would often be the case), but it seems the fairest way to choose 3 out of 4.
Another option would be to use one name to honour [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] (since they’re both versions of the same name). Maybe [name_f]Moira[/name_f], [name_f]Maura[/name_f], [name_f]Maria[/name_f] etc would work to honour both. This would work particularly well if Mary and Maureen are from different sides of the family (e.g. if Maureen is your grandma and Mary is your partner’s).
Finally, you could choose one grandma from each side and use the other 2 names if you have another girl
It might be a bit much all together…but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] Melelani!! It’s a really beautiful name
Have you thought of maybe mashing up some of the names? Maristella means Sea star and is a mash-up of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] (or [name_f]Maria[/name_f]) and [name_f]Stella[/name_f], which both relate to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. [name_f]Maureen[/name_f], if you like, could be shortened to [name_f]Maura[/name_f] or slightly changed in pronunciation and spelling to [name_f]Marine[/name_f] or [name_f]Marin[/name_f].
Melelani Maristella [name_f]Maureen[/name_f]
Melelani Maristelle [name_f]Maureen[/name_f]
Melelani Maristella [name_f]Maura[/name_f]
Melelani Maristella [name_f]Marine[/name_f]
I hope I was able to give you some ideas, because although all the names you have to work with are beautiful, they make the name very long and a mouthful. I keep thinking you and your daughter would have a lot of trouble with paperwork and such.
What about using [name_f]Maura[/name_f] as a combo of [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]?
Melelani [name_f]Maura[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] isn’t too much I don’t think. I think it still gets the sentiment across without too much friction slowing the name down.
I personally think it would flow better if you mized the names around like [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Melelani [name_f]Maureen[/name_f]. Then I don’t think it’s necessarily ‘too much’. She will just have a long name (like princesses of old).
If not, I second the idea of Maristella! That’s beautiful.
[name_f]Maureen[/name_f] is a form of [name_f]Mary[/name_f], so I would eliminate one or the other. Otherwise I think it’s a great combo.
I agree with the others who have suggested honoring both [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] with one name, such as [name_f]Maura[/name_f]. I also like the suggestion of Maristella.
I’m going to add my voice to those saying that Melelani [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]/Maryestelle is too much. I was going to suggest using either [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f], or another variant of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] altogether so neither feels like they’re being undermined compared to the other. Melelani [name_f]Maura[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] or Melelani [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Maura[/name_f] would be really pretty.
Both are way too much in my opinion…
[name_f]Mallory[/name_f]/Mallori would be an easy way to honour both a Melelani and a [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. [name_f]Marie[/name_f] would be a nice way to honour a [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] and a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] (Also, seconding the ideas of Maristella and [name_f]Maura[/name_f] as well)
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] [name_f]Mallory[/name_f]
Melelani [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
Thank u so much everyone! Im loving the suggestions of [name_f]Moira[/name_f] and Maristella! I will definitely keep tweaking this one. Either combining the names as suggested or picking one grandma from each side. The feedback really helps . thank u.
I agree [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] are essentially the same name so to me those are the two that make sense to combine. [name_f]Maura[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_f]Mairi[/name_f], [name_f]Maire[/name_f] etc all work. Melelani [name_f]Maura[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] would be very pretty. Good luck!
