Naming daughter Elsa if my name is Anna?

Hello everyone

We need some help picking a name for our little one. We like [name_f]Emma[/name_f], but I also like [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] a lot and I honestly started paying attention to this name only after Frozen came out. Please give your opinion on naming a girl [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] considering that my name is [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. How does it sounds to you? [name_f]Do[/name_f] I sound like a Frozen obsessed mom (which I am not lol) or does it sounds cute, unique, interesting at all?

Thank you for your honest opinion in advance

I would notice it and maybe make a lighthearted joke about it.

Elsa is pretty!!! I think people would notice and maybe make a wee joke, but i wouldn’t consider that much of a problem because you don’t tell everyone you meet your mum’s name? It would be a different story if the [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] in question were sisters or twins but i think mother/daughter is fine! If you like it go for it!

i don’t think it’s a major issue, especially if you’re anna like ann-uh rather than oh-nuh

you should go for the name if you love it!

I would notice and smile to myself about it, I think it’s lovely. Some people may point it out/make a joke, but I honestly wouldn’t bother, go for the name you love!

I don’t think it’s a problem. Yes, you may get a few comments, but you should be fine. Go for the name you love.

Elsa & [name_f]Anna[/name_f] would absolutely be too much as sisters, but I think mom and daughter are fine. You’d probably get comments a lot, especially when she’s young, but if you don’t mind that then I think it’s okay.
I might assume you were a Frozen fan, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing!

Elsa is a really beautiful name, and if you love it, you should use it

I would probably think of Frozen, but it’s not a huge issue and if you love [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], go for it!

Are you ann-uh or on-nuh?

Either way, I think it’s fine, but except it get it pronounced “on-nuh” as a joke if you’re an “ann-uh.”

To make matters worse (or better lol) my name is pronounced as “on-nuh”. I was already getting lots of comments after movie came out and I was surprised that people associated my name with the movie since I’ve met other On-nuhs in life. Now with [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], I don’t know if it will be too much…

Personally, I would go with [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. But then, [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] never appealed to be anyway…

I would notice but wouldn’t point it out. I think it’s fine for mother and daughter

I would think of Frozen but I would also think “Aw that’s sweet!”. [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is a cute name. [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is a great option too.

Elsa is very sweet! I would notice the Frozen connection if I met an [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] in the same family; I think I’d guess that they either loved Frozen or didn’t know about it. In your shoes I think I’d prefer to avoid the association if possible; maybe I’m biased because I prefer [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] to [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] anyway, but I love that as a potential alternative! I also love [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. That being said, I definitely don’t think the connection has to be a dealbreaker if [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is your favorite. It’s not a negative association, and I don’t think it matters as much for mother-daughter as it would for sister-sister anyway!

Ive never actually seen Frozen the whole way though but I do associate [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] with it. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is such a common name I don’t even notice the connection in the names. I don’t think you sound obsessed lol.

I think it’s fine. [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] sounds lovely. I’d think it is a funny coincidence that you’re named [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and she’s named [name_f]Elsa[/name_f].

I would think it was as funny in a cute way, but as mom and daughter I wouldn’t think it’d be too much of a problem

I probably wouldn’t do it, but I don’t think it’s so bad for mom and daughter.

I would definitely notice, but I’m also a huge Disney fan. I would probably assume you were also a big Disney fan and ask you a lot of questions about Frozen.

If people weren’t as into Disney they might not even notice. If you really love it that much and it feels like the right name I say still use it.

i’d think of frozen if i heard the name [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] regardless. it’s unavoidable imo, but definitely not a bad thing! if [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]’s the name you truly love, you should totally go for it.
