We are due our first baby in [name_u]July[/name_u]. We had a strong list of 3 top girls names, so of course baby is a boy! We now have a very long list of boy name possibilities and are finding it hard to narrow down.
Our surname starts with ‘P’, is two syllables and is a biblical occupation name which rules out biblical and occupation names (too bad since we both like [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]). Second name will be [name_m]Paul[/name_m] after a family member.
DH top picks:
[name_u]Beau[/name_u]
[name_m]Bear[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Blaine[/name_u]
My top picks:
[name_u]Sonny[/name_u]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
Would really appreciate thoughts on these names and any suggestions.
I like [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m]! [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is nice too but I prefer is just as a nn not a full name. [name_m]Bear[/name_m] and [name_u]Blaine[/name_u] are not really by style. Other suggestions:
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] (Hebrew origins though)
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] (variation of a biblical name though)
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m] are my favorites. I love [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] bit prefer it as a nickname. Also since your surname is an occupational name it could sound to much like an adjective. A sunny p___.
Other options I think sound choppy worth [name_m]Paul[/name_m].
I think you should highly consider [name_m]Orson[/name_m]. It gives you nicknames [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] and [name_m]Bear[/name_m] (it’s definition is bear cub.)
I love [name_m]Milo[/name_m] but [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] I don’t think works especially well. Not necessarily a dealbreaker though!
Considering the middle I would rule out [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_u]Beau[/name_u], and [name_u]Blaine[/name_u].
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] and [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] both work pretty nicely! I like [name_m]Felix[/name_m] slightly more. As another poster said, I think [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] might be better here as a nickname.
Some ideas similar to the names on your list:
[name_m]Boden[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Fenrir[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Bruno[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] “[name_u]Sonny[/name_u]” [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Orson[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] (means “bear cub” and easily gets to nickname [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]!)
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
Congratulations! I am not nearly as talented a nameberry as others on here, but I’ll give it a shot…
Of your lists, I like [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] P___ the best. I also love pp’s suggestion of [name_m]Orson[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] P___ for all the reasons they mentioned (though I never would have come up with it myself – well-done PPs)
Also, I know a pair of siblings [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_m]Dominic[/name_m], so maybe [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] would suit your style? I do love the sound of [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] P_____.
I also love PPs suggestions [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] P_____ and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] P_____.
@a282 and @greyblue thanks for your feedback. I really like your suggestions of [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] and [name_u]Max[/name_u]
@wilkie8709 so many interesting suggestions, will be going through these with DH
@llbaby22 and @brittanyanitarose I agree that one syllable names are a bit choppy with [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. Using a full name to get [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname is a good idea. I did not know that about the meaning of [name_m]Orson[/name_m], thanks, I will definitely be adding it to our list.
