I am expecting b/g twins and would love some naming help. I want to focus on the girls name right now since the whole situation is kind of complicated.
I have a 6 year old daughter named Annabeth [name]Spencer[/name] [name]Melisande[/name] (nn [name]Beth[/name]). This is a perfect example of what girl’s names look like in my family. A first name with the word [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Ann[/name] in it, a maiden name (only for the first child) and a second name starting with ‘m’. My name is [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Reed[/name] [name]Madeline[/name] so this is another example.
The problem is that no family members have had more than one girl since my grandmother was born. I feel like I should use an [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Ann[/name] name so that she doesn’t feel left out but I don’t want it to be too matchy matchy with Annabeth. Also I would love a list of ‘M’ names that sound fresh and fun.
I also have a son named [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Tiberius[/name] [name]Elliot[/name] (nn [name]Max[/name]) so I am not scared about using large names but would like them to have shorter nick names.
Thank you for your help we greatly appreciate it while we try to sort through family names to use as a second middle:
[name]Elizabeth[/name] (mil)
[name]Helene[/name] (mil)
[name]Jane[/name] (mom)
For a son
I would consider honouring grandmother [name]Ann[/name] by using it in the boy’s name [name]Antonius[/name], combo [name]Charles[/name] [name]Antonius[/name] [name]Jameson[/name].
For a daughter
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Elena[/name] [name]Belle[/name] (used [name]Elena[/name] to honour [name]Helene[/name])
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Just[/name] a couple to get you started.
rollo
Could you use [name]Marianne[/name] or [name]Mariana[/name] or [name]Marianna[/name] as a second middle name for baby girl? That will fit the bill of being a second middle name starting with M and it gets [name]Anne[/name] in there without being redundant with [name]Beth[/name]'s name…
With Annabeth and [name]Maxwell[/name], maybe you want another name with double letters? [name]Camilla[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Estella[/name], [name]Hannah[/name] (gets you [name]Anna[/name], too), [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Juliette[/name], [name]Jessamine[/name], [name]Luella[/name], [name]Leena[/name], [name]Noella[/name], [name]Rosanna[/name] (gets you [name]Anna[/name], too), [name]Roxanna[/name] (gets you [name]Anna[/name], too), [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Susannah[/name] (gets you [name]Anna[/name], too), [name]Tess[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], or [name]Vivienne[/name]? For a boy, it’s a little tougher, I think. [name]Bennett[/name], [name]Callum[/name], [name]Douglass[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Harris[/name], [name]Harrison[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Lennox[/name], [name]Reed[/name] (family name?), [name]Thaddeus[/name], [name]Ulysses[/name], or [name]William[/name]?
I guess, of those, my favorites for a girl are [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Char[/name], [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Lottie[/name]), [name]Emmeline[/name] ([name]Em[/name], [name]Emmy[/name]), [name]Jessamine[/name] ([name]Jess[/name], [name]Jessa[/name]), [name]Juliette[/name] ([name]Jules[/name]), and [name]Scarlett[/name] (Scar, [name]Carly[/name], [name]Lettie[/name]). For a boy, I like [name]Bennett[/name] ([name]Ben[/name]), [name]Everett[/name] (Ev, [name]Rhett[/name]), [name]Harris[/name] ([name]Harry[/name]), and [name]Thaddeus[/name] ([name]Thad[/name], [name]Tad[/name]). For pairings, I love [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Harris[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name] and [name]Thaddeus[/name], and [name]Jessamine[/name] and [name]Everett[/name].
Alright, you wanted to focus on girl names. If you want to get an [name]Anne[/name] name in there while also honoring [name]Elizabeth[/name], you might consider [name]Anneliese[/name]. It’s [name]Anne[/name] + [name]Elise[/name], which is an [name]Elizabeth[/name] variant. And, of course, there’s [name]Marianne[/name] and [name]Marianna[/name], as I mentioned above. Other neat M names are [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Magdalen/name, [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Marcheline[/name], [name]Margot[/name], [name]Mariette[/name], [name]Mathilda[/name], [name]Meredith[/name], [name]Meriel[/name], [name]Mignonette[/name], [name]Mirabelle[/name], [name]Mireille[/name], [name]Morgana[/name] (gets you [name]Anna[/name], too), and [name]Myrtle[/name]. So, maybe:
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Helena[/name] [name]Marianne[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Morgana[/name] [name]Helene[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Mabel[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Mirabella[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Marianna[/name] [name]Helene[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Morgana[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name] [name]Mathilda[/name] [name]Helene[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Morgana[/name] [name]Lisbeth[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Marianna[/name]
[name]Julietta[/name] [name]Helene[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Mireille[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Morgana[/name] [name]Helene[/name]
[name]Lemon[/name]
Really like pp’s suggestions of [name]Roxana[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Morgana[/name]. [name]Rosanna[/name] is pretty but I can’t help thinking of the comedienne [name]Roseanne[/name]. Here are some more suggestions, some of which “hide” an “[name]Anne[/name]” sound or look inside of a name, which might be one way around the matching a bit. But I think most wouldn’t be too matchy. There must be more out there, too!
I like [name]Jane[/name] best for a middle name because of reasons below (I think it’s worth thinking about as a first name if you like it), but all of your middles are lovely!
Good luck!
[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Amanda[/name]
[name]Andrea[/name]
[name]Cassandra[/name]
[name]Chandra[/name]
[name]Christiana[/name]
[name]Diana[/name]
[name]Doriana[/name]
[name]Elana[/name]
[name]Eliana[/name]
[name]Fabiana[/name]
[name]Floriana[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name]
[name]Giovanna[/name] (also related by meaning and to [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Johanna[/name])
[name]Grace[/name] (this is the meaning of [name]Ann/name/[name]Anna[/name])
[name]Jane[/name] (bit of a stretch, but you might be flexible! Also related by meaning, and to your name [name]Johanna[/name]!)
[name]Juliana[/name]
[name]Lana[/name]
[name]Lane[/name] (similar to [name]Jane[/name])
[name]LIllian[/name]
[name]Luciana[/name]
[name]Madeleine[/name] (think this spelling looks closest to [name]Ann/name, pronounced like [name]Madeline[/name] still – nice that it connects to your name, if it’s not too close a connection for you)
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Samantha[/name]
[name]Sana[/name]/[name]Sanna[/name]
[name]Shanna[/name] (by some interpretations related to [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Joanna[/name])
[name]Shoshana[/name]
[name]Savannah[/name]
[name]Tana[/name]/Tanna
[name]Vivian[/name] (could use [name]Vivianne[/name], but to me it looks misspelled, and [name]Vivian[/name]/[name]Vivienne[/name] gets you a little more difference)
[name]Yvonne[/name] (bit of a stretch)
[name]Just[/name] thought of all the “angel” names:
[name]Angela[/name]
[name]Angelica[/name]
[name]Angelina[/name]
[name]Evangelina[/name]
and probably others.
Also the female form of pp’s suggestion of [name]Antonius[/name] etc,
[name]Antonia[/name]
and also just because:
[name]Anastasia[/name].
Best wishes!
What about using a name with -anna in it for the mn? What way she still has [name]Ann[/name] in her name, but her first name wont clash with Annabeth’s. I like the pp suggestions of [name]Marianne[/name].
[name]How[/name] aboout:
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Marianne[/name] “[name]Lydie[/name]”
[name]Sarah[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Marianne[/name] “[name]Sadie[/name]”
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Helene[/name] [name]Marianne[/name] “[name]Vi[/name]”
I love a lot of [name]Anna[/name] names, but I think this daughter will need a name where the [name]Ann[/name] is not very noticeable - as it is so prominent in Annabeth, I think anything else would seem too matchy. I will echo previous posters ideas of using [name]Anna[/name] in one of the middle names - you know, you could even reverse the tradition and have an M name as the first name, if it wouldn’t bother you that they would share an initial with [name]Max[/name]. Or start a new tradition altogether - are there perhaps any names or styles of names which are popular on your partner’s side? That way the new baby girl’s name would still have a family connection.
‘[name]Secret[/name] [name]Ann[/name]’ names:
[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Candia[/name]/[name]Candida[/name] (both run the risk of the nn [name]Candy[/name], though)
[name]Cassandra[/name]
Celandine (or [name]Corisande[/name], but that is very close to [name]Melisande[/name])
[name]Constance[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]/a
[name]Francesca[/name]/[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Leanore[/name]/[name]Leanora[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Xanthe[/name] ([name]ZAN[/name]-thee)
[name]Xanthia[/name].
M names:
[name]Mabel[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Margeret[/name]/[name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Margot[/name]/[name]Margo[/name]
[name]Marietta[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Marisa[/name] (mar-EE-za)
[name]Martha[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Maude[/name]
[name]Melia[/name]
[name]Minerva[/name]
[name]Mira[/name]
[name]Mirabel/name
[name]Miriam[/name]
Mneme (NEM-ee)
[name]Molly[/name].
And as a side note on family names, I personally would use [name]Helene[/name] or [name]Jane[/name], as [name]Elizabeth[/name] is already sort of honoured by Annabeth.
Good luck!
[name]Auburn[/name]
I think to hide the “ann” lik one of the previous posters said , i like [name]Miranda[/name]. Annabeth and [name]Miranda[/name]
Good [name]Luck[/name]!
Wow,the only new suggestions I can think of are [name]Janna[/name], or [name]Nancy[/name] which is a variant of [name]Ann[/name]. Although I will put my vote in for [name]Susannah[/name] or [name]Miranda[/name].
I like the idea of hiding the [name]Ann[/name] too! [name]Just[/name] adding [name]Rhiannon[/name], [name]Brianne[/name], [name]Cheyenne[/name], and [name]Liana[/name] into the mix
For m names what about:
[name]Maisy[/name]
Miffy
[name]Matisse[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Milly[/name]
[name]Molly[/name]
