Naming little sister!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! We are trying to decide on a name for our baby girl. Our son is [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and our daughter is [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

We love timeless, classic names. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to suggest others, although I feel like we have exhausted our search!

I should mention that [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] was my grandma’s name and I think it is so sweet. I love the idea of using it, but I am having trouble getting totally behind [name_f]Mary[/name_f] (worried it sounds super Catholic - which we aren’t) or just [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (feels kind of abrupt to me as a first name).

I am having trouble posting a poll!

Options are -

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] goes the best.

Few more suggestions -

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Una[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]. I used to feel that way [name_f]Mary[/name_f] but recently have been feeling like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a beautiful, underused classic. Paired with [name_f]Mae[/name_f], it sounds sweetly vintage. I’d also like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]!

[name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] are an adorable sibset! I really love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is really sweet too and matches perfecctly with siblings.

I like:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a cute, underused classic. It doesn’t come across as too Catholic in my opinion (as someone who used to be Catholic). [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is great! I love alliterative names. My top choices from your list would be [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].

Some other options:
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] (incorporating the [name_f]Mae[/name_f])
[name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. You could use [name_f]Molly[/name_f] or [name_f]Mamie[/name_f] while she’s younger too. I find [name_f]Mary[/name_f] elegant and disarming.

Otherwise I like [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] goes marginally better as a sibset - I just prefer the name [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] but don’t love the nn’s for it.

From your list, my favorite is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. It has both substance and style, and is a perfect match with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I wouldn’t worry about [name_f]Mary[/name_f] being perceived as too Catholic, as I am (ex)-Catholic and of the three [name_f]Marys[/name_f] I know (two teens, one in her 50s), not one is Catholic. Other ideas:
[name_f]Rachel[/name_f]: This name is bright, classic, and substantial. I think it fits really well with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]: This one has a similar feel to [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and it definitely qualifies as an evergreen, timeless classic.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]: Like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], this beautiful, serene classic packs depth and meaning into a short name.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]: [name_m]Long[/name_m] and beautiful, like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], but just as stately as [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]: A sweet, vintage classic with lots of history, just like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. The length of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] with the sounds and sweetness of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]/[name_f]Margot[/name_f]: This is a fantastic [name_f]Mary[/name_f] alternative. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is every bit as classic, elegant, and formal as [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and has a long, rich history.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]: Another exquisite classic with the sounds of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].
[name_f]Jill[/name_f]: The spunk of [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] with the rhythm of [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Jill[/name_f] is an underused but stylish and sweet classic.
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]: The ultimate evergreen name. It is melodic, simple but powerful, and with a great meaning.
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]: This name is gentle yet strong, and has been used for generations.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped! [name_f]Happy[/name_f] hunting.

[name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] & [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are gorgeous together. Or [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f].

Seconding [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]!
