The story is set in a (fictional) major city in another world (so time period is irrelevant.) The MC’s parents are minor characters but major enough that it’s weird for me to just say “her mother” and “her father” all the time, especially because they’re aunt and uncle to another character who addresses them by their names. They have big hearts and little ambition, content with where they are and they have no plans on moving or changing their situations as they’re fairly successful and stable.
They’d have both been named by parents who would want names not out of the ordinary, which for the purposes of the city would mean mainly classic, typical names for English speakers. Not necessarily plain. [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] is one name I’m considering for the mother and is a good example of the kind of name I’m looking for for both the mother and father, more within the timeless range than the dated-to-one-specific-generation style of name. I’d rather not post the names of immediate family because they have a slightly different style of name than what I want these specific characters to have.
Brief descriptions:
The mother has a no-nonsense side to her, but she’s not really blunt, and she’s also seen being somewhat playful with those she cares about. The father is a more minor character than the mother. All we really see of him is that he cares about his family and works for them but also has a stubborn streak concerning prejudices against certain kinds of magic users which he holds even above his care for his family. He’s more of a mixed bag character than the mother. While none of the mother’s flaws are really relevant to the plot, the father’s virtues and flaws cause internal conflict for a main character who has a hard time accepting that someone loving has the capacity to be so uncaring.
I can give additional info if needed. The characters aren’t there in person very often but I’m debating how important they are to the MC’s development and struggle so their names are potentially pretty important.
