I think it’s best to have two completely individual names for twins (or siblings in general) but still have the same style, if that makes sense?
From your signature I like:
B/B: [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_m]Teague[/name_m]
B/G: [name_m]Artemas[/name_m] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
G/G: [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
Some other suggestions:
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_m]Soren[/name_m]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f] and [name_m]Thorin[/name_m]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] and [name_m]Foster[/name_m]
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Celine[/name_f] and [name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
I personally love a lot of the names you’ve chosen as stand alone’s so I don’t think you’ll have any problems there! My first pregnancy was with twins (both girls!) and I simply named them with my top two choices I had picked for when I thought I’d just be having one child - [name_f]Brielle[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]! :) Not so little anymore, they started high school last month haha! And what I think I’ve learned from having twins myself is that you shouldn’t get bogged down in names that ‘go well together’ too much. Yes, your children will always be addressed together (and possibly argue over who goes first as my girls often do when signing of [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] cards haha - [name_f]Brielle[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]/[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]). But, eventually they’ll grow into their own individuals and will probably thank you for not naming them too similarly to their sibling!
One of my good friends also had twin girls, [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Beautiful names, but the matching first initials do make me cringe slightly! :-?
That being said, I do understand the need to have names that match in the sense of how traditional they are/how they sound/origins etc. etc. Back to your choices! My favourite combinations are:
G/G: [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
B/B: [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_m]Teague[/name_m]
G/B: [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m]
Best of luck and welcome to the world of mothering double-trouble!
I wish you and your beautiful babies all the happiness and health during this special time
Personally I wouldn’t treat the naming process any differently to how I would for normal siblings. This is something I’ve thought about a bit, as multiples run in my family! But I think your ‘rules’ sound sensible, and I would apply them not only to your twins but to any other siblings they may have. Good luck!
As everyone else has already said, I wouldn’t approach naming twins any different than naming singletons. [name_m]Just[/name_m] as I wouldn’t name my kids [name_u]Rain[/name_u] and [name_f]Susan[/name_f], I also wouldn’t name them [name_f]Karen[/name_f] and [name_f]Sharon[/name_f]. I always want my kids names to “go” together in that they have the same feel or style. I wouldn’t want a [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] and a [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], you know? But I would shy away from matching initials, matching sounds, or anything cheesy like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
