Naming number 3

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all. We’re expecting our third, a girl, and stuck on names. We already have a [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (Millie) and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] (Tom). Our top two contenders currently are [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]. Which we think both have cute nickname options (which is something we like). Which of these do you prefer??? [name_u]Or[/name_u] any other suggestions?
And for middle name we’re thinking [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_u]Anne[/name_u] (both family names) but these aren’t set.

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] gets my vote! It sounds so sweet with [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. :relaxed:

(Lucinda also works well, though, so you really can’t go wrong here.)

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] back and congratulations on your third. I think you’re all set with your list. [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] are both very charming with your older children and you have two great family names for the middle. I do prefer [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] myself but I think you’ll find each name is received equally with delight.

Are you hoping to decide on her name before she arrives? I’m struggling to find ways to divide them. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer one set of initials over the other? Does one name flow better with your surname? Does one have a potential nickname that you want to avoid? Has one name been on your list for a long time while the other is only a recent addition? If you and your partner love them equally and each name has been stable on your list then I think you’ll be happy with either choice.

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would be lovely

Both are lovely and I don’t know exactly what the nickname options are that you are thinking of using but my thoughts are either [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. I much prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] so [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] would be the winner for me.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] & [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] are lovely. I think that [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] is perfect w/them. It’s really sweet & classy but feels strong & feminine too. I like the nns [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] or [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] a lot w/Millie & [name_m]Tom[/name_m]. [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is gorgeous. [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] isn’t a bad name, but it gives me sort of stuffy old lady imagery. I’m not sure why. I like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] & [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] a lot though. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] would be really nice.

A few other ideas:

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

Thank you! Your response is so helpful. It’s so hard to choose one over the other, so your thinking points are useful. I’d like to decide her name before she arrives (helps me feel prepared!), but I’m also thinking maybe we will know which name suits her after we meet her. However, if I still wasn’t sure after she was born I think that would stress me out!
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] has been on our list longer, but that’s only because hubby has only just decided he likes [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] - but now it’s his favourite! I think I might take another look at our family trees and see if either name has any family history significance. Perhaps that might help us decide…

Thank you. I like [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] but hubby doesn’t. For nicknames, we’d use [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] for [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], and George/Georgie or [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] for [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] (hubby doesn’t like [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] though, but wouldn’t mind if some people called her that).

Thanks everyone for your input! It really does help
FYI - for nicknames we like George/Georgie or [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] for [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] for [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]. (hubby doesn’t love [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] but wouldn’t mind if they get used).
We are still very undecided, but have another 6 months before we need to decide! I’m sure I’ll probably post again before we come to a final decision! haha.

That’s a good thing to note about [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]. If your husband’s feelings remain firm over the next few months then you might have your answer. Although, if you slightly prefer [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] while he slightly prefers [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] I might be tempted to look back on how you came to decide on your older childrens’ names. If someone compromised last time, they could have their choice of the two options this time.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the idea of looking over the family trees for a connection to either name. I know some people like family connections to be obvious or exactly the same name. I personally don’t mind less obvious connections if they are there to be found e.g. a shared initial especially surnames where the surname doesn’t work as a first name or names with partial similarities that evoke a likeness to the original.
