Naming our 3rd

Definitely seems to be a running theme in recent posts, but I also could use some help naming our third baby. While we haven’t had the 20wk scan yet, DH and I are both feeling girl but we can’t agree on names for anything! Help!

DS is [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
DD is [name_u]Parker[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]

DH really seems to like the popular names from the 80s. I like more nature inspired, almost hipster names. If it helps, our “short” list is [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_u]Emery[/name_u], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Kenna[/name_f], and [name_u]Colbie[/name_u]. MN will be [name_f]Renate[/name_f] after my grandmother. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] (non [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]) but my husband calls it (and most of my suggestions) weird.

[name_f]Renate[/name_f] is a beautiful name! You chose a very androgenous surname for your first daughter, and it seems like you have a few in that vein on your current list. I don’t see anything I’d call hipster, or nature inspired, on the current list.

Of your current suggestions, my favorite is [name_f]Maya[/name_f]. I think it sounds lovely with [name_f]Renate[/name_f], and it’s modern enough to go with [name_u]Parker[/name_u] but grounded enough to pair up with [name_m]Levi[/name_m].

My favorite suggestions for you is [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is hip and nature-inspired, modern enough to go with [name_u]Parker[/name_u] and biblical to match up with [name_m]Levi[/name_m]. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Renate[/name_f] sounds amazing, too.

Also:

[name_f]Afton[/name_f] (a river; there’s a lovely song called “flow gently, sweet [name_f]Afton[/name_f]”)
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_u]Linden[/name_u] (a type of tree, nn [name_f]Lindy[/name_f])
[name_f]Marin[/name_f] (a nod to the sea)
[name_u]Skye[/name_u]

[name_f]Flower[/name_f]/tree names: [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Calla[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_f]Willow[/name_f]

Like a said, DH and I are having a hard time agreeing (the short list are the ones we’ve kinda agreed on but nothing has stuck). No, I take that back, we had agreed and [name_u]Kamden[/name_u]. Loved it. Then made the mistake of googling it and found an unsavory definition in the urban dictionary.

Nature/hipster names are ones I like. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Skye[/name_u], and also [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] and [name_f]Skylin[/name_f]… But he thought those weird. I like your suggestion of [name_u]Eden[/name_u], too. Maybe I’ll try bringing that one up and see what he thinks. Thanks, [name_m]Blade[/name_m]!

I saw the [name_u]Urban[/name_u] Dictionary definition of [name_u]Kamden[/name_u] and I can agree it’s pretty bad… but try the [name_u]Urban[/name_u] Dictionary of [name_m]Kamdyn[/name_m]:
“Pretty girl who is smart and everyone secretly loves to be with them. [name_m]Kamdyn[/name_m]'s are sweet and caring and will always listen to you. They make great friends. Girls named [name_m]Kamdyn[/name_m] are unique like their name. The never will admit to hating someone and will be friends with anyone. They like to be included in everything! Girls named [name_m]Kamdyn[/name_m] are often shy around strangers and wild and crazy among friends. If I were you I would be really nice to that girl with the name [name_m]Kamdyn[/name_m]!”
