Naming our 4th baby--help!

What name do you like for our fourth baby (a boy)? Our older kids are:
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] (often called Hughie), and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].

  1. [name_u]Alfie[/name_u]
  2. [name_u]Reggie[/name_u]
  3. [name_u]Edward[/name_u] nn [name_m]Eddy[/name_m]

I’m not crazy about my last 3 kids all being “ie” endings, but [name_m]Hughie[/name_m] is really [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], and these are just the names we keep going back to! Some of my other favorites (Dexter nn [name_m]Dex[/name_m], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], Emil) were vetoed by my husband, boo! Thanks for your help!

I love your children’s names! [name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes to Reggie—it sounds sweet yet strong, and it’s a perfect style match for the others.

I like [name_u]Reggie[/name_u]. I really like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] too!! I don’t think you could go wrong with either of those.

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes towards [name_u]Edward[/name_u]! I like [name_u]Reggie[/name_u], but I prefer [name_u]Edward[/name_u] as it seems more like a full name, which matches with [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]!

I agree [name_u]Edward[/name_u] would work best with [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].

I would go for [name_u]Edward[/name_u] (Eddy/Ned) to match [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and add to the vibe of the other names. I love it - and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]!

I would use [name_m]Regis[/name_m] if using [name_u]Reggie[/name_u] - I get [name_m]Reginald[/name_m] is an option but that’s too far from [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] I think!

[name_u]Edward[/name_u] is perfect! I also love the idea of [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] for you, nn [name_m]Eddy[/name_m], [name_m]Ned[/name_m] or [name_u]Win[/name_u]

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] could be great, to pick up on the fun sprightliness of [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]!

Congratulations :tada:

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_u]Edward[/name_u] he’s incredibly classic, strong and ever so timeless. He also feels unexpected which is a major plus and I think he works well with [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] & [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]. I’m in the UK and names like [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] + [name_u]Reggie[/name_u] are so expected that they feel a bit predictable whereas [name_u]Edward[/name_u] just feels timeless. You could always go with [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] for a more ‘fashionable’ nickname as well which is a plus.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] @katinka suggestion of [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]!

Completely agree with all of this, the number of Alfies and Freddies I’ve heard here  I love Teddy for you and Edwin (or perhaps Edmund?) is also lovely!

[name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_u]Reggie[/name_u] are nicknames only in my book. [name_u]Edward[/name_u] NN [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] fits the sibset well. Otherwise, [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] NN [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] or [name_m]Reginald[/name_m] NN [name_u]Reggie[/name_u] could definitely work too.

Reggie!!

[name_u]Edward[/name_u] is one of my favorite names, so that takes my vote! Likely because I’m a fan of using full names to get a nickname from rather than using a nickname as the given name. Second choice for me would be [name_u]Reggie[/name_u] I think!

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] sibset and options!

Interesting to gain that perspective! Here in [name_u]California[/name_u] you never hear [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] or [name_u]Reggie[/name_u] at all! I knew these nick-namey names were trending in the UK but I actually think of these as “unexpected” here, and have been ruling out more expected names in favor of these ones. Hmmm wonder if it should make a difference that they are so popular in the UK if they aren’t where I live. Something for me to think about.

So funny, I haven’t heard one [name_u]Reggie[/name_u] or [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] here in CA but I love them! I’d probably think of these names differently if I were in the uk though. I just looked through the US top 1000 names and was completely uninspired. I think my style is more aligned with UK naming.
