Naming our baby girl... help

We need help with deciding what to bame our daughter, we are in a dilemma.

I am torn between honoring my grandmother, who was my favourite person ever, and finding a name that means something to both me and my partner. We are both outdoorsy people and love the mountains and forest of [name_f]Canada[/name_f] which is a special place for us, and we’d love a name that speaks of that.

My grandmothers name was [name_f]Madora[/name_f] which I would love to keep alive. As a shortened version we would name her [name_f]Ora[/name_f]. Although [name_f]Orsa[/name_f] means little bear and Orea means mountain.

The other name we like is [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
But we are open to other suggestions that fit the theme.

Please help I cant make decisions.

I think you should talk to your partner about this, it’s pretty much the only way to decide.
I don’t care about honor names and I’m not planning on honoring a family member. Your partner might feel the same way. Or they might be really passionate about honoring someone. You should talk it out.

I am usually one to immediately think that unless you name with the actual name of the relative, it isn’t really honoring them. I know I’m in the minority, but there it is. That being said, I think that [name_f]Orsa[/name_f] is the most adorable name for your little girl with the nature meaning that speaks to something special to you and your husband. It is unique but not weird or out there imo. [name_f]Ora[/name_f] is also cute, as is [name_f]Madora[/name_f] in full.

However, I’m going to echo the pp in saying that you need to have the conversation of which is more important with your husband in terms of naming after a relative or a name that speaks more to you. I think that [name_f]Orsa[/name_f] could fit the bill if he likes it to satisfy both, but his opinion on it is really important. Good luck!
