What’s your naming style? For girls, I only really like frilly Italian names that end in the letter “a” (although I like the names [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]).For boys, I like names that end in the letter “o” and aren’t more than 3 syllables long.
While in theory I love all kinds of names, my real naming style for my actual 5 children is purely biblical.
Names that I love which I wouldn’t ever name an actual child are: [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]February[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]… I guess all my imaginary children are girls!
To me, naming is an outlet for my creativity. Thus, I try to come up with the most gorgeous, whimsical, meaningful, and typically vintage or nature-inspired names I can!
However, realistically, I would actually name my children something more grounded. Something with a certain gravity to it—something that aged well for them and ‘set them up for success’, so to speak, as adults (but with a creative twist, of course). Example: [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], etc.
I’d say I like fairly traditional (some would even say dated!) first names, with unexpected middle names that refer to classical literature (particularly Greek mythology or Arthurian legend).
For girls, I like vintage-y first names with some amount of edge with long, often nature related middle names. For boys, I like exciting space/nature names with medium length, evocative middle names. In any case, I like names with nice meanings/personal meanings.
I share a near identical naming style to yours! It’s so rare to found someone who also likes the frilly, the italian, and the overtly “pink and princessy” names!
I like names that are considered dated. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], etc.
eek your names are soo beautiful
I would say my style is underused classics that have a modern, almost trendy feel. eg. Vivian, Lawrence, Clementine
I’d say my naming style is about being thoughtful and thorough with each name that I choose–making sure that the name isn’t too common but also isn’t too outlandish/hard to pronounce/just plain weird is very important to me. I also love playing around with “frillier” names combined with simpler middle names, such as my current favorite girls’ name, [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
