Naming the Main Character For a Drama-Thriller Novel

This was an idea that came to me just last night, I kid you not. I’m currently struggling to name the main character.

Genre of the [name_u]Story[/name_u]: [name_u]Drama[/name_u], Fiction, Thriller

Time Period: [name_u]January[/name_u] of 2009, Big [name_m]Bear[/name_m] [name_u]Lake[/name_u], [name_u]California[/name_u]

Brief Plot: Main Character reflects upon the events leading up to her younger sister’s death and the relationship they had.

Character Description: She presents herself as a calm and composed person. Her friends and peers consider her to be organized and responsible. She usually comes off as unfriendly and rude to strangers and others who don’t know her well. On the inside, she’s unconfident, clumsy, and afraid of the future. She has a deep, monotonous voice. She’s a tall, skinny young woman with pale skin. Her eyes are black and droop a bit, making her look ‘sad’ even when she isn’t. She’s got short, messy black hair with bangs that part in the middle. She also has a ‘poker face.’ She is of [name_f]East[/name_f] [name_f]Asian[/name_f] heritage.

Who Named the Character: Her mother was in her early twenties when she had her and was also abandoned by the MC’s father twice.

Immediate Family: Both of her parents currently have no name and there whereabouts are unknown. I’m still trying to figure out a name for her younger sister but she is deceased in the story.

Already Considered: [name_f]Daria[/name_f], [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Paige[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f]

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t Suggest These Names: Nothing too feminine, I suppose.

Thank you in advance!

Maybe [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], or [name_u]Shae[/name_u]?

Not sure if this is exactly what your looking for, but hopefully there’s something here for you:
[name_u]Joan[/name_u]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Diane[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Liz[/name_f]
[name_f]Moira[/name_f]
[name_f]Judy[/name_f] “[name_u]Jude[/name_u]”
[name_u]Tai[/name_u]
[name_f]Joy[/name_f] (kind of an ironic name)
[name_u]Kim[/name_u]
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u] “[name_u]Ash[/name_u]”

I also like [name_u]Arden[/name_u] and [name_u]Leigh[/name_u].

Here are some suggestions for first names with each letter. Personally, I don’t find any names overly feminine and most of the names are pretty common, though I do have some unusual picks which could work well given the story details you have shared. I find that most of these names could also have nickname potential with either given or self-chosen purposes behind them.
