Naming the third

Hello. I have a daughter named [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and a son named [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]. I am expecting another baby, and while we won’t know the gender for a while I want to try to get this done as soon as possible. It took a long time with both, but we didn’t name [name_m]Jas[/name_m] until two weeks before his birth and that was too much stress for me, although we did come out of that with another boys name. If this baby is a boy, his name will be [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Me and my husband have some names, but I was wondering if anyone had opinions or suggestions for a girl. It is very important to us not to have a top 100 name first name if possible. This is a very rough, very initial list my husband I came up with this afternoon, so I would love honest opinions and help refining it.

Our first names (hardest part):
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f], although we’re worried it’s too close to [name_u]Eden[/name_u]?
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f], I want to like this one…
[name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f]

First names that are a no:
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] (sadly), [name_f]Rachel[/name_f].

Our middle names:
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

As you can maybe tell, we have a theme: uncommon religious first name with a more traditional, old-fashioined middle. It didn’t start out that way, but we actually like it and want to continue it. We are planning on this new little one being our last, so I am hoping it won’t be too hard to come up with a third that we like. I appreciate everyone who looks at this and spends some time helping. Thank you so much.

I like the sound of [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]

Well, with your theme you are certainly limited with girl names.

I think you might run into popularity issues with [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f], since [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is ranked #75 and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] #15. Those nicknames are interchangeable for all Ev- names. That being said, it’s my favorite from your list. I don’t think it works with any of your middle names though.
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]

[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] and [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] are a little corny [name_f]IMO[/name_f] to use with a sister [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. Place names aren’t my cup of tea though. I also think [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] is pretty dated.

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Hope[/name_f] are also a little corny since [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a word name in the biblical sense. Again, nothing inherently wrong with them, just something to consider.

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] is granny-esque and not in a vintage chic kind of way. I also don’t think it works great with any of your middle names, but it’s perfectly respectable and a strong female name.

What about…
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebekah[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]

[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f]- I like these, but I agree they are kind of close to [name_u]Eden[/name_u].
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] - I could see this fitting well, since it starts with the same letter as [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and ends with an -er like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is actually one of my favorite girl names!
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] - Personally it’s not my style, but I do think it goes well with your other kids’ names.
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] - Most of the [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]'s I know are around their 20s, so it feels slightly dated to me, but at the same time I do think it’s a nice name, and [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], and [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] make a great sib set.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - Part of me likes the vintage appeal of this name, but the other part of me wonders why someone would name a child after a pizza topping. I don’t think it’s bad at all, but probably wouldn’t be my top pick.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] - I don’t know that I ever would have thought of [name_f]Hope[/name_f] for a sibling to [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], but I really think it works somehow.

Overall, my favorites from your list are [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. Both are actually on my list for possible future girl names!

Some combinations I like:
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

A few other ideas:
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Adah[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_f]Charity[/name_f]
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f]
[name_f]Talitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethel[/name_f]
[name_f]Jerusha[/name_f]
[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] (maybe Haddie for a nn)
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Charis[/name_f]/ [name_f]Karis[/name_f]
Keziah
Keturah
Petra

I like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], but I like the italian version of [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] better. That’s a good suggestion. [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is pretty. I like [name_f]Judith[/name_f], too, I forgot about that one. [name_f]Judith[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

I agree that [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is the most usable, but I’m not set on it with [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. It seems a little too much for me but my husband really likes it. I don’t know any Bethanys but I see how it could be a bit much with [name_u]Eden[/name_u] too. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is just so perfect to me. It’s hard to find something comparable. But I’m giving myself plenty of time.

I love [name_f]Talia[/name_f], but I’m adoring [name_f]Hope[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] right now! That’s so pretty. [name_f]Junia[/name_f] is really pretty too. I had no idea it was biblical… I’m adding that one to the list too. My husband really like the idea of [name_u]June[/name_u] as a middle, so this would be literally perfect for a first name for him at least. [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are both really nice! Great great suggestions and opinions, thank you. I feel the same way about [name_f]Olive[/name_f] but I so dislike [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and I love the reference to the Mount of Olives. I just wish I liked it.

I really like [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] for your sibset!

(I do think [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] is too close to [name_u]Eden[/name_u], sorry)

Thoughts:

[name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] - Style wise I think it fits, but they are probably too similar to [name_u]Eden[/name_u].
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] - A little old-fashioned still, but with a nickname (ex. [name_f]Essie[/name_f]) it seems fresh. It doesn’t seem too similar to [name_u]Eden[/name_u], but does share some sounds with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] - Makes a good set with [name_u]Eden[/name_u] as they both have a modern feel (and for some an unisex vibe). I think this could work nicely.
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], but it doesn’t seem as fresh nor vintage enough to totally fit in here.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Olive[/name_f], but if you’re not sold, it might not be the right option. Also something to consider: the majority of your middle name options are words/colors/stones. [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is also a word/color name, so it might sound odd with them.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] - similar word name dilemma, but a pretty name. My other big thing here is it doesnt seem to flow well with the middle name options, apart from maybe [name_f]Violet[/name_f].

So to sum up, I’d say your best options of what you have are [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] or [name_f]Esther[/name_f] for the first name.

Combo Ideas:

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
- These seem to help liven up [name_f]Esther[/name_f].

[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
-In particular I like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as the feel matches perfectly with sister [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. One more modern name capped off by a classic middle name.

From your list my favourites are [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] if unusable maybe [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]/[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]… As well as [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] and [name_f]Ester[/name_f]. But overall I think your list are all lovely and go well with [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]!

Some ideas;
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]/[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_u]Ariel[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilee[/name_f]
[name_u]Elisha[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]/[name_f]Lily[/name_f]/[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]/[name_f]Lillia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lois[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydda[/name_f]
[name_f]Myra[/name_f]
[name_f]Mara[/name_f]
[name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_f]Noa[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f]
[name_f]Sia[/name_f]

The Mount of Olives is also known as Mount [name_f]Olivet[/name_f]. It’s prettier than [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and still has Biblical ties.

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] have obvious connections, good, bad, or okay depending on how you look at it.

I like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] the best from your list.

[name_f]Atarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Adah[/name_f]
[name_f]Adina[/name_f]
[name_u]Damaris[/name_u]
[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f]
[name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_u]Jael[/name_u]
[name_f]Keturah[/name_f]
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f]
[name_f]Noemi[/name_f] ([name_f]Naomi[/name_f])
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f]
Apphia
Esteri, [name_f]Estera[/name_f] ([name_f]Esther[/name_f])
[name_f]Jessica[/name_f] (Iscah)
[name_f]Keziah[/name_f]
[name_f]Mahala[/name_f] ([name_f]Mahalath[/name_f])
[name_m]Micaiah[/name_m]
[name_f]Noa[/name_f]

First off, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]. I would use [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], personally, but that’s for a relative. My suggestions using your middle names, but different first names than you had put:
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]

Maybe [name_f]Tirza[/name_f]?

[name_f]Tirza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Tirza[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f].

What about [name_f]Galilee[/name_f] [name_f]Elaina[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f]? [name_f]Galilee[/name_f] is also a place name and [name_f]Elaina[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f] also mean light

[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] was my first thought. So pretty!

[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] is too close in sound to [name_u]Eden[/name_u] I think.
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] works though the 2 names ending in er is not ideal.
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] seems a different style to me.
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] works well, lovely name.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - I just don’t get the appeal of this.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] - ok in the middle but find it harsh as a first name.
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] is lovely and goes well.
[name_f]Junia[/name_f] is interesting, but sounds too similar to [name_m]Junior[/name_m] to appeal to me.

My favourite combos with your children:

[name_f]Judith[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

Firstly, [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a gorgeous combo. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] is so handsome too!

I love [name_f]Eva[/name_f], but personally I would try and avoid repeated initials. That’s just me though! Other than that [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is the only one on the list I really like.

I love your middle names though! Could you not use [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as a first name?

I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] are a great fit with [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] avoids the garden of eden associations. I also love your middle name list. [name_f]Judith[/name_f] is really pretty. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_f]Judith[/name_f] would get my vote from your list. Suggestions for uncommon Biblical names:

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Adah[/name_f]

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is lovely
.

Others;

[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]

[name_f]Adore[/name_f] the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f]!

I like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] I think that it fits with your theme, and that it is also as unique as your other children’s names.

In my opinion, [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is very close to [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and takes away some of the uniqueness of each name.
