My husband and I are expecting two handsome twin boys in [name_f]September[/name_f]. We had a couple of names picked out, but I’m not really feeling them and I’m not sure why. When we found out they were both boys, I told my husband I wasn’t feeling the names but he “LOVES” them. Then I had a shower and they did a guessing game where you guessed the names and nobody guessed the twin set, but both names were guessed…and that started to make me second guess the names again for whatever reason. The names we picked out are [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m]. [name_u]Porter[/name_u] being my Mom’s maiden name and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] being my Mother-in-law’s maiden name. So, the boys would be [name_u]Porter[/name_u] Cutten and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] Cutten. We also are also giving them family middle names. I think part of the issue for me is my cousin has a little boy named [name_u]Porter[/name_u]…and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] isn’t super popular here but common enough that I know a couple other people who have sons named [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] (we’re in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]).
My husband pretty much hates every name, because he usually knows someone he didn’t like who has the same name. These names are “safe” since he doesn’t know any adult with either name.
Some other twin sets I proposed to him are (but we haven’t discussed in great details yet)…
[name_m]Austin[/name_m] and [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]
[name_m]Preston[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m].
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] has the potential if we can match it with something. If it was boy/girl twins the boy was going to be [name_m]Clark[/name_m]. I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name Devereux but my husband really doesn’t because it’s a bit ‘too unique’ for him.
I would appreciate…
comments on our current set ([name_u]Porter[/name_u] & [name_m]Cooper[/name_m])
comments on the ‘new’ ones I’m liking
some suggestions for a new set. (somewhat traditional…nothing in the top 25 or avoiding the top 100 altogether)
I think [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] go well together. [name_m]Austin[/name_m] and [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] definitely do too, but I would think those may be too common. Suggestions for changing and/or replacing [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m]:
[name_u]Cameron[/name_u]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_u]Camden[/name_u]
[name_u]Devin[/name_u]
[name_u]Darren[/name_u]
[name_u]Dane[/name_u]
[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_u]Bryce[/name_u]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u]
[name_u]Walker[/name_u]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_u]Easton[/name_u]/[name_m]Weston[/name_m]
[name_u]Casey[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
This is all off the top of my head in no particular order. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps some. I think [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] and [name_u]Parker[/name_u] are good together but if you don’t love them, you have *time to keep looking.
[name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] are alright; they go together in the sense that they have the same ending but I see [name_u]Porter[/name_u] as a bit more preppy whereas [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] seems more country. I can’t really articulate it well, but I guess what I’m attempting to say is it seems like a mismatch to me. Although I like the that they’re both your mothers’ maiden names, that’s pretty cool!
If you’re giving them family middle names I think that’s enough of a family connection to not feel bad about cutting out [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] if they’re not your absolute favorites.
[name_m]Preston[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] & [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] and [name_m]Austin[/name_m] are alright as well; I think I like [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] and [name_m]Austin[/name_m] just a little more although they’re both pretty common where I’m from (US). Neither pair really wow me though.
Would you still use [name_m]Clark[/name_m] even though they’re BB twins vs. BG twins? I love [name_m]Clark[/name_m]. Simple, strong and handsome. [name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_u]Reid[/name_u] or [name_u]Jude[/name_u] would be lovely brothers.
Some suggestions (combine names you like to see if you like them in a pair I didn’t think of!):
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] and [name_m]Cullen[/name_m]
[name_m]Cohen[/name_m] and [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] and [name_m]Colin[/name_m]
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_u]Drew[/name_u]
Options to go with [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] (which I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] by the way):
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Landon[/name_m]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m]
[name_m]Leopold[/name_m]
[name_m]Maverick[/name_m]
[name_u]Rohan[/name_u]
[name_m]Byron[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
Like any of these suggestions? Good luck naming your boys! Congratulations on twins
I like the ‘new’ names you have come up with better than [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m]
Here are some suggestions
[name_m]Austin[/name_m] and [name_m]Brody[/name_m]
[name_m]Austin[/name_m] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]
[name_m]Austin[/name_m] and [name_m]Miller[/name_m]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u] and [name_m]Miller[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlen[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_m]Ryder[/name_m]
[name_m]Brody[/name_m] and [name_m]Ryder[/name_m]
[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Blake[/name_u] and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m] and [name_m]Austin[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] and [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]
[name_m]Geordie[/name_m] and [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
[name_u]Devon[/name_u] and [name_m]Jared[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_m]Leyland[/name_m]
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and [name_m]Jamieson[/name_m]
First of all, congrats on your twins! You have a lot of different options for names.
I think [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] are fine, but I am not in love with either. If you like them enough, go for it, but just remember that you have lots of other names to choose from.
Out of the other two options I definitely like [name_m]Preston[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] better. I like that pair even better than [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m].
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_m]Clark[/name_m]! Is there a reason that you can’t use it for boy/boy twins also? Out of all of your options, that is definitely my favorite name. I would pair it with:
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Ross[/name_m]
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Russel[/name_m] (I don’t know why I’m drawn to R names with [name_m]Clark[/name_m], it just seems to work.)
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Troy[/name_m]
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Eric[/name_m]
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
Good luck! I know from personal experience that it is very hard to name twin boys!
Thanks! I like the name [name_m]Cole[/name_m]…it’s cute and simple. I wonder if that could be a contender for one of them. I’ll have to add it to the list and see if I can create a pair.
I really like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] too. [name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] is cute but hubby already said “No” to [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] in the first round when we were looking at names I love [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] too…and [name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] are too matchy matchy. I do like [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and the griffin is hubby’s family crest. Thanks for the idea’s!
[name_m]Brody[/name_m] is super cute and I love it but my cousin’s step-son is [name_m]Brody[/name_m] and my cousin on the other side has a son [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] (which I had…it’s the inferior [name_m]Brody[/name_m]). But [name_m]Austin[/name_m] and [name_m]Brody[/name_m] sound so good together! [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is cute too…I’ll have to look into that one. Thanks!
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] is getting all the love…and maybe part of why I’m not happy with [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] is I still love [name_m]Clark[/name_m] too. [name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Troy[/name_m] is kind of cute. Both short names…with “R’s” in them. I think you like the “R” names with [name_m]Clark[/name_m] because of the “R” at the end of the name…it does sound good. Thanks.
I think giving each of your mothers’ maiden names as first names is lovely, and [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] go together perfectly! I’m usually not a big fan of surnames as first names but the exception is when they have a strong family meaning like this - I plan to do the same if I have a son by giving him my own mother’s maiden name, [name_u]Walker[/name_u]!
I really like the [name_u]Porter[/name_u]/ [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] combo, and I especially love the family connection! It’s neat to be able to honor both sides of the family in one go.
As far as other ideas, I really like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Holden[/name_m]. Other options, maybe [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], or [name_m]Silas[/name_m], or [name_m]Gage[/name_m].
I love the name [name_m]Callum[/name_m], though I’m not sure what I’d put with it.
Thanks! I like the name [name_m]Holden[/name_m] too…but there was a guy I went to middle school with who had that last night who murdered an old man. If it wasn’t for that, it would be a contender. I’m surprised at how much everyone likes [name_m]Clark[/name_m]…I thought we might get a lot of people hating it. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] so many people like it!
[name_u]Walker[/name_u] is my Grandmother’s maiden name! I actually thought about it, but his Grandmother’s don’t have nameworthy maiden names, so ended up scrapping that idea. But I think [name_u]Walker[/name_u] is super cute. It’s nice to see someone else on the same page as [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m]. Thanks.
I think [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] are okay together, but they don’t jump out at me. Also, I am disliking [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] with your last name for some reason - I think having 2 heavy “K” sounds is a bit clunky.
What about [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Austin[/name_m]?? I love this twin set. Simple, but very handsome! I also really like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] - was there a reason you only were going to use it for boy/girl?? I think [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Clark[/name_m] could work as well.
I think [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] is too simple compared to your other names, it doesn’t really fit. [name_m]Preston[/name_m] and [name_m]Austin[/name_m] could also work…
I think [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] with Cutten sounds a bit clunky because they’re both 2 syllables, so it starts to not sound as good as [name_m]Clark[/name_m] Cutten, which actually has more “K” sound. For whatever reason [name_m]Clark[/name_m] sound really strong. I think we either need to use both mother’s maiden names or scrap them altogether, wouldn’t want one of them offended. I really thought we’d have a hard time getting people to like [name_m]Clark[/name_m], but I’m glad to see so many people really like it. Now to pick a name as equally likeable that matches [name_m]Clark[/name_m] and maybe I can get hubby to go for it!
Would you consider doing the two family names as middle names and picking a name you like more for the first name? E.g. [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Cooper[/name_m].
Also, I think [name_u]Walker[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] go together better. It still leaves you with a family name from each side, and avoids cousins with the same first name.

I don’t mind [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] but I agree that [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] doesn’t sound great with your last name. I love the connection to your mothers maiden names though, so what if you bumped them to the middle spots? I also love love [name_m]Clark[/name_m]! I also love [name_m]Preston[/name_m] too so my suggestion to you would be:
We have other family names we wanted to use as middle names. The problem is, my father died when I was a baby, so I would like to incorporate him into the middle names but would not consider giving his name to them as a first name. I like the name [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]…and it’s actually on my husband’s family coat of arms. Something like that may work. Thanks.
