Naming with culture;

[name]Hi[/name] everyone,

I’m due with my first baby on [name]October[/name] 21st and am starting to think about names. My mother was French and my father is half Japanese. I am hoping to honour their cultures in the name I choose for my baby.

Girls; Possible middle names - [name]Aiko[/name], [name]Hana[/name], Meiko, [name]Mika[/name], [name]Suki[/name], [name]Sumi[/name] (also, while it’s not Japanese, I really like [name]Bird[/name] as a MN)
[name]Claudine[/name]
[name]Delphine[/name]

Boys; Possible middle names - [name]Hiro[/name], [name]Koda[/name], [name]Maro[/name], [name]Ren[/name], [name]Zen[/name]
[name]Marcel[/name]
[name]Leon[/name]

Surname is Devereux

Other names I like that aren’t French;
Girls; [name]Cosima[/name], [name]Paloma[/name], [name]Ramona[/name]
Boys; [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Theo[/name], [name]Otis[/name]

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions??

Thanks!!
[name]Marion[/name]

[name]Love[/name] [name]Marcel[/name] and [name]Leon[/name], you don’t see them very often on babies now and I like that they could make a comeback.

If you’re interested I have a big list of French names I keep but most of them are older traditional or rare like the ones in my signature, if you like names popular in recent years like [name]Delphine[/name] I can come up with a bunch of them too. [name]Do[/name] you live in the states or by chance visit [name]France[/name] a lot? I think that would have something to do with name choice.

I really like these Japanese names
Satomi
Manami
Sayuri
Momoko

You might also like Colombe, it means dove in French sort of combines the Cosima sound with Paloma meaning

I love [name]Delphine[/name] [name]Aiko[/name] and [name]Leon[/name] [name]Koda[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Suki[/name]!
[name]Suki[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] would be lovely. I also like the thought of [name]Paloma[/name] meiko.
[name]Otis[/name] [name]Maro[/name] and [name]Leon[/name] [name]Koda[/name] are my favorite boy combos.

[name]Suki[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] is a beautiful suggestion. (I think [name]Suki[/name] is becoming more recognizable due to [name]Sookie[/name] from [name]True[/name] Blood).
[name]Leon[/name] [name]Hiro[/name] would be my boys combo from the names you listed. Or [name]Marcel[/name] [name]Ren[/name].

I also think [name]Colette[/name] [name]Mika[/name] would be a nice combo.
I also like [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Ren[/name].

[name]Hi[/name]! Thank you.
I really like [name]Marcel[/name] and [name]Leon[/name] too. I have found it much easier to fall in love with french names for boys, than I have for girls!

I would love a list of both traditional and popular names. I am keeping my options open =] Are you French by any chance?

I do like [name]Colombe[/name] actually. [name]Just[/name] want to double check its pronunciation - “Col-ome” (ome rhyming with dome?"

I actually live in Australia, and have only been to [name]France[/name] a handful of times. I think it is important that the name I choose is easy to read and pronounce for English speakers.

Thank you so much for your help.

I have dual citizenship and have lived there off and on throughout my life but I can’t say that I’m French as much as I would like to lol, I married a Frenchie (well a Frenchie/American) because he was raised in both countries and has dual citizenship as well.
Most of these float around the boards or in my posts but I’ll try to throw in some new ones. Colombe sounds like this, [name]Colombe[/name] [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name] is one of my combos

Sorry for the long post, if you should want more names I will continue or PM you. Please excuse typos and errors I’m sort of sleep deprived, if you go to www.forvo.com you can listen to lots of the names I listed by native speakers. [name]Hope[/name] you find some inspiration I know there are Frenchies or others who love and know French names on the board that might be able to contribute new ones.

I like [name]Claudine[/name] and [name]Marcel[/name]!

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! I can’t believe this list!
I will have a good look through it and post again with combo’s.
Seriously, thank you so much!
