I don’t mind when people name their children after themselves. I wouldn’t do it, for a few reasons. My name (or the variation, [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], same pronounciation) was very popular in the 70s and 80s. I like my name but not enough to pass it on. Also, I have an aunt with the same name and it is extremely confusing when we are in the same room.
I know someone named [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] after her mother, and a boy name [name_m]Johnathan[/name_m] after his father.
In my country it is not necessary that a married woman changes her last name. In fact, the only woman I know that changed her last name after marriage is my paternal grandmother {married before the 1940s).
As for the main question, I think it is acceptable to name a daughter after her mother. I have not done it nor have I met someone who did it {or I can’t remember right now}. However, since fathers are “allowed” to have a junior, why should a mother not have?
