Nanami for a first name... am I totally crazy?

Nanami is a rather exotic name, and I’ve always restricted it to middle name use before now. BUT… I can’t deny I am in love with everything about the name. So much so that I really want to use it for a FN. I feel like it could be done; foreign names don’t seem as odd in this day and age. I am looking for opinions though!

I doubt many of you will like the name itself style-wise, but is Nanami too foreign for a first name? (pron. “nah-nah-mee”)

Potential nicknames: [name_f]Mia[/name_f] (favorite), [name_f]Nana[/name_f], Nami

If you have Japanese heritage I think it’s fine, otherwise, no.

I don’t think it works well as first name. It’s a lovley name but I think there would a lot of pronunciation and spelling issues, plus some plain confusion.

I don’t think it works well as a first name either.

A lot of kids call their grandmothers [name_f]Nana[/name_f]. That connotation might embarrass a child.

I prefer it after Sansa, but as fn it’s also okay.

Thanks for the feedback so far, everyone!

If you love it go for it. I personally don’t like it but that is not important.

It could work as a first name, I don’t think you have to be Japanese to use it although a little bizarre.
