My girls adore the [name_f]Fancy[/name_f] [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] books my mum gave them and reading to them last night I think I almost had an epiphany: what about [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]? I personally find it to be adorable and quirky, as well as quite old-ladyish, much in the style of [name_f]Beadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Gloria[/name_f].
What are berries’ thoughts on [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]?
Does [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] sound cute? Maybe [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u]?
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is an absolutely DARLING name!! I love it!
Personally, I think [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] works better with a 3 syllable name (i.e. [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Gloria[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u]), but [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] definitely fits the mold of your other two names
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] and [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] sound lovely together, they make me think of women in the 1950s à la “Call the Midwife”.
It’s not a style I’d personally go for but if it’s a shared “theme” in children’s names, I very much appreciate it.
I really like [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], I’m a huge fan of the [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Drew[/name_u] books. It’s a great namesake. It does follow the vintage/old lady style, but luckily that’s a match made in heaven with your girls. I think [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] would stick out rather awkwardly to be honest with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], so [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] is a great choice. Best of luck!
I think it’s spunky and a great name, though there are still enough aging Nancys out there that it might throw people off a bit. There are the great namesakes and connections to children’s literature; there’s also some cultural baggage like “nancy” as derogatory slang for effeminate boys.
I love [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Drew[/name_u] all the way. [name_f]Nan[/name_f] is cute too.
I also love [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] but I am having a hard time reconciling the two. [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is so girl next door and [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] is so mysterious and Anglican sounding.
PS There are still a lot of “aging Nancys out there”? Good grief. Mustn’t have any older people around messing up the names.
I think [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is really pretty and cute! And [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] to me goes really well together! A really elegant name mixed with something more edgy makes it a great combo.
PS There are still a lot of “aging Nancys out there”? Good grief. Mustn’t have any older people around messing up the names.
It’s not like this is a bad thing, it’s just a consideration for a lot of people. My name is most common among women about 20 years older than me, so I can confirm it’s a valid consideration. A lot of “vintage” names tend to come back as soon as they’ve stopped being common on the obituary page… that’s just how fashion goes.
I have always had a soft spot for [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I don’t view it as an old lady name at all, the only [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] I know is 15 years old. She’s from an upper class family so I consider it so, but I have loved it for years! It’s very sweet and regal.
I wouldn’t use it myself though, a “nancy” is a derogatory term where I live (nancy boy, negative nancy).
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I have 2 older neighbors named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. Besides feeling Old…the name has a whining feeling to me. Maybe it’s the comments from [name_m]Frank[/name_m] Barone on “Everybody Loves [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]” that put that in my head. He’s always calling his sons “[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]” when they’re whining about something.
I personally feel neutral about [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I have only known/met older (grandma and great grandma age) woman named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. So I find it hard to picture it on a young person, especially a child or infant. That picture could change if I started meeting girls and young woman named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. [name_f]Nan[/name_f] would make a nice nickname, although I have only met older woman named [name_f]Nan[/name_f] also.
I love it! I also have a [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] ([name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]) so I go for the “old lady” names too. What I love more than [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], however, is using the more formal like [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as the official name with [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] as the nickname. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] is beautiful, with [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] as a nn. GL!
I never really stopped to consider [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] and really it’s an adorable and quirky name as you put it. Sounds wonderful with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] too, although for me [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] is a lot more attractive (for different reasons).
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is pretty great!
