I met a 2 year old little girl today called [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], at first I thought I’d misheard but her name was written on her wellingtons, I was quite shocked to meet such a little [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], what do think?
I love the name [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], so I’m happy there are little girls who are called it
I adore [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], it’s towards the top of my list, and I had a friend growing up named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], she’s about 18 now. I don’t see it as an old lady name - I see it as a Victorian (or even Georgian) nickname for [name_f]Anne[/name_f]!
I think it’s lovely! I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], too.
I love [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], and if I ever have an [name_f]Anne[/name_f] (which is a distinct possibility) she’d go by [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I know [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] peaked as a given name in the mid-20th century, but [name_f]Nan[/name_f] and [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] are much more old-fashioned nicknames, right in line with the little Maggies and Elizas out there.
Doesn’t the British Prime Minister [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] have a daughter named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]? I’m not surprised that you met a [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] in [name_m]Britain[/name_m]. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is his other daughter’s name and that’s rocketed up the charts. In [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u], former First Lady [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] would probably be the most famous [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I also think of [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Drew[/name_u].
I think this is why it’s growing rapidly. I’d imagine by the time the 2013 stats are out it’ll be around 90, maybe even higher since his little girl was in the news a lot last summer.
I really think it’s lovely though. It’s a family name for me (she was a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] who went by [name_f]Nan[/name_f], my middle name is after her) which makes me like it even more.
I also like [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]/[name_f]Betty[/name_f] and [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] a lot, which feel similar to me.
My great grandmother was [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I actually think it is a very sweet name. I can see it making a comeback.
I agree with this! [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is one of my favorites that is often put in the “too dated” category.
I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], it’s on my list for ages.
